One on One with Apl de Ap: Apple of the eyes ng mga Pinoy

Julie Bonifacio - July 29, 2013 - 03:59 PM

Sa media launch ng “Red Ribbon Macaroons for a Cause” ay nagkaroon kami ng chance to have a sit-down interview with Apl na ang real name  is Allan  Pineda.

Every member of the media were given only 10 minutes to have an exclusive interview with  Apl after the  question and answer portion.

Sa amin ang allotted ‘yung time but we were generous enough to let the writers from Philippine Star,  Pep.ph and Philippine Daily Inquirer to join us.

Ano’ng latest with his plan of producing his first indie film?

APL DE AP:  Oh, (It’s) still in the works.  We have to take, you know right now, I’m very busy with ‘The Voice.’ The movie is being written and ah, we’re still kinda like refining the sotry. And I’m still looking for more upcoming, upcoming director.

APL:   I  have a few  and they have  sent to me and ah, now I gonna over and watch their reels.

B:        Can you mention their names?

APL:   Oh, not yet.

B:        Aarte din siya s amovie?

APL:   Yeah, I’ll be doing like ah, funny, cameo (role) throughout the film. It’s kinda like ah, a boy that comes from the province that goes to the  city. It’s gonna be comedy. Like the original slapstick type of comedy like Chiquito or Dolphy, you know, Bisoy.

B:        Lifestory ba niya to?

APL:   It’s kind a little bit of parallel.

B:        Please enlighten us more regarding your project with Red Ribbon?

APL:   Ah, well, our goal is you know, a macro for a cause.  So, for every package you buy it donates P7 towards school buildings. And ah, you know, our main focus right now is in Zamboanga.

So, that’s what the announcement is about. That’s what we gonna  raise funds. So far, we built 15 classrooms. And this one, is gonna be, actually, gonna be a public school.

So, it’s more not just classroom, it’s like a whole school that’s gonna be built

B:        Do you have your own school back in Pampanga?

APL:   Yes, the name is Sapang Bato High School. I built a computer lab in an existing school, and a library and a music room. And for the elementary, I built two kindergarten classrooms for the kids

B:        What about a school na siya mismo ang  nagpatayo and under his name?

APL:   His own school he built and name after him? Haha! Well, you know, definitely in every classroom there’s an Apl de Ap room, and Apl de Ap library or an Apl de Ap studio,

Apl de Ap computer lab. But you know, definitely, in the future. That’s gonna be, there will be an Apl de Ap Elementary School  coz you know after these classrooms we gonna need what’s next for the students.

And that’s what’s gonna come. That one place where they can get their  vocational or they want to go to  universities, and that’s why, you know,  partnering with Red Ribbon will gonna help me sustain that.

APL:   It feels great.  It’s priceless. I got to visit the schools and I got to talk to kids. They create programs when ah, when I visit and they show me what they’re doing in all the computers.

And they’re like making videos, they’re editing their own  videos and they give me CDs and I was just, wow! It’s better than winning a Grammy, you know.  You know that feeling? It was   an amazing feeling.

B:        May mga establishment ba siya sa Pampanga like a Red Ribbon franchise?

APL:   Hehehe. I don’t know.  We have to ask the general manager, haha.  But I would love it. Yeah, why not? That would amazing. Hahaha!

APL:   You know, yeah. Now that, first I was hesitant on ‘The Voice (of the Philippines).’ I was like,  ‘I don’t know,’ blah-blah.

B:        What’s holding  him back?

APL:   Well, first, I was like ah, okey,  once I turn around I have to see the contestant, you know. I was very worried about that. I was like ah, ‘I don’t see their expression.

How am I gonna be  able to relate and ah,’ you know? It just dawned on me. I’m like, it’s the voice. And it’s all about voice, you know. And we made adjustments.

So,  when I turn around I had a  little screen at the bottom of my chair so that I could see their expression and in the middle of the show I started just   relating, really sharing and really listening to their stories and that made me  comfortable. I’m like, ‘Ahhh.’   Maybe I can do TV now, you know, hehe.

B:        What about a teleserye with KC Concepcion?

APL:   Hahaha!

B:        Hindi ba crush niya si KC?

APL:   Yeah.  I guess, that would be a secret teleserye, hahaha!

APL:   I heard.

B:        What’s your initial reaction when he heard that?

APL:   I was like, is her phone number still working?  Hehe. Is it still the same? Hahaha.

B:        Haven’t he tried calling again KC?

APL:   Well, I was hoping I will run  into her at at ABS. Hehehe.

B:        So, he’s still interested with KC?

APL:   He-hehem (Naubo niyang sagot). Hahaha.

B:        Why not?

APL:   Why not, right?

B:        Single ba naman siya ngayon?

APL:   I date. I go on dates. I’m looking.

B:        Sa isang panayam din ni APL nasabi niya he is considering to settle down with a Pinay.

APL:   Haha, well, you know, to have a relationship with a Pinay, you have to be around all the time. So, I’m kinda showing that I’m around all the time. I’m not just,  you know, disappear, hehe.

APL:   That’s okey. I’ll take that question.
No, you know, I feel like every coaches have their own personality and you know, uhm, I think she’s very nie. I think she’s very well-spoken. She relates to people.

I think everyone is great on it. I don’t really pay attention to that kind of stuff. I just keep doing it, doing it and making sure that I’m doing well. That’s my main focus, you know.
