Bongbong Marcos idineklarang non-working holiday ang October 30

PORMAL nang idineklara ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang October 30, Lunes, bilang special non-working holiday.

Ito ay para sa pagsasagawa ng Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Nitong Lunes, October 9, nilagdaan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin ang Proclamation No. 359 bilang tanda na muli nang magpapatuloy ang BSKE matapos na dalawang beses na pagpapaliban nito mula noong 2020.

Base sa proklamasyon ay idinedeklarang holiday ni Marcos ang October 30 upang magbigay daan para sa mga mamamayang Pilipino na bumoto.

Matatandaang noong May 2020 dapat gaganapin ang Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections ngunit noong December 2019 ay ipinasa sa isang batas na ipinagpaliban ang botohan at i-move ng Disyembre 2022.

Ngunit pinirmahan ni Marcos noong October 2022 ang Republic Act (RA) No. 11935 at inilipat ang eleksyon ng Oktubre 2023.

Narito ang nilalaman ng Proclamation No. 359.

DECLARING MONDAY, 30 OCTOBER 2023, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING)
DAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY

WHEREAS, in Macalintal v. Commission on Elections (G.R. Nos. 263590, 263673, 27 June 2023), the Supreme Court ruled that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections set on the last Monday of October 2023 shall proceed as scheduled;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that the people be given the full opportunity to participate in the said elections and exercise their right of suffrage.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND R. MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare Monday.
30 October 2023, as a special (non-working) day throughout the country.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 9th day of October, in the year of Our Lord, Two Thousand and Twenty Three.
