Kris: Nag-mature na ako, very obedient…basta ako super quiet

KRIS AQUINO

SA punto ng kanyang buhay ngayon, 49 year-old Kris Aquino considers keeping her mouth shut as a sign of maturity.

Naglipana na kasi sa social media ang anunsyo welcoming her back on TV via “Love Life With Kris” to premiere on TV5 on July 25 at 5 p.m..

Ito ‘yung pagbabagong-bihis ng istasyon naming itself One TV which is also launching other shows, at posibleng may mga programa rin ng ABS-CBN.

Agad naming pinadalhan ng text message si Kris wanting to find out what the viewers and her fans alike can expect of her show tulad ng mga paksang tatalakayin niya, lineup of guests, etc.

May kabuntot na linya ang mensaheng ‘yon expressing how happy we are for her. Long-overdue na nga ang kanyang pagbabalik-TV.

Kung wala nang aberya, Kris will have gone full circle.

She traces her hosting roots to ABS-CBN, then lumipat sa GMA via “Startalk” in 1995 habang may Viva TV-produced siyang “Kris Aquino TV Show” concurrently on PTV 4.

Her GMA stint was brief though dahil kumabilang-bakod siya sa ABS-CBN until she finally severed her ties noong 2016. Her last show was “Kris TV.”

Off and on si Kris sa Kapamilya network as she had to take a leave noong ikampanya niya ang kanyang Kuya Noynoy who would later become President.

In short, matagal na ang lull mula noong huli siyang makitang hosting her own show. Nasilat din kasi ang anumang negosasyon that would have seen Kris in GMA sa kung anumang dahilan. Hers was just a two-part TV special na ang ikalawang bahagi ay hindi pa umere.

Blame it on her rift with her lady TV producer, also her fan, she had a one-time deal with.

It’s been four years. A period too long to relegate a good host to the sidelines, kaya naman isa kami sa mga natutuwa that she’s back to what she loves most and does best.

Back to my text message sent a little past 5 in the morning, at ito ang reply ni Kris past 9 am: “I’m not allowed, Kuya Ronnie. Nag-mature na. Very obedient.”

Hapon na namin nabasa ito, to which we replied na natisod kasi namin ang balitang ‘yon. And her reply was: “Sila na lang magsalita. Basta ako, super quiet.”

If most people knew her well enough, hindi ganu’n si Kris na makakatiis na hindi itsika what’s on her mind. But let’s give it to her, mahigpit nga siguro siyang pinagbabawalan never to make any preemptive disclosure about her show for whatever reason.

Nireplayan ko na lang si Kris that in that case, she has my respect as well as best wishes, ending my text message with looking forward to watching her show.

                                                                                             * * *

Hindi namin palalampasin ang araw na ito nang hindi kami makapagpapasalamat sa pamunuan ng Bandera and its readers who’ve been with us for nearly four years since our first column got published (July 21, 2016).

Maraming salamat kay Tito Abel Ulanday and to his wife Tita Nene who took us in upon somebody else’s recommendation (although dati na rin kaming nagsusulat sa Tumbok, ang sister tabloid ng Bandera, until it folded up).

Thank you rin to Ervin Santiago, our editor, who didn’t behave like a boss that he should be and who respected my manuscript no matter what it contained.

Of all the newspapers na meron akong kolum, I’ve always treated Bandera as my outlet through which I could decently bitch around in the guise of prose and literary writing kuno.

As my column takes a final bow today, this is pure thanks un-showbizified. Salamat sa inyong pagtangkilik. Hope to see you soon via a PDI-owned tabloid to hit the streets!
