BAKBAKAN para sa pangalawang puwesto ang magaganap sa pagitan ng San Beda Red Lions at Perpetual Help Altas sa pagpapatuloy ng 91st NCAA men’s basketball tournament ngayon sa The Arena, San Juan City.
Mag-uumpisa ang sagupaan dakong alas-4 ng hapon pagkatapos ng labanan sa pagitan ng St. Benilde Blazers at Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.
Pakay ng Red Lions na masundan pa ang dalawang sunod na panalo habang puntirya naman ng Altas na makabangon matapos na mapatid ang four-game winning steak nito kontra Letran Knights, 71-79, sa huling laro.
Magbabalak naman ang JRU na kunin ang ikatlong sunod na panalo.
Tinalo ng Bombers ang Lyceum Pirates, 75-60, sa hu- ling laro at kung madugtungan nila ito ay aakyat sila sa pang-apat na puwesto katabla ang matatalo sa pagitan ng San Beda at Perpetual Help.
Ang laro laban sa Altas ang magpapasimula sa sunud-su- nod na mabibigat na laro ng Red Lions. Matapos ito ay la- labanan nila ang Heavy Bombers at Arellano Chiefs.
“It is what it is and we can’t change the schedule. Hopefully, after a brief rest, we recover physically and mentally for these games,” wika ni San Beda coach Jamike Jarin.
Handang bigyan ng ma- gandang laban ng Altas ang Red Lions lalo na kung babalik ang kinang ng paglalaro ng rookie 6’6” Nigerian na si Bright Akhuetie.
Si Akhuetie ay may average na 25 puntos at 15 rebounds kada laro sa unang apat na laro ng Altas ngunit nalimitahan lamang sa pitong puntos at anim na rebounds kontra Knights. —Mike Lee
