Sara Duterte: Kung sino man ang kumokontra sa confidential funds ay kumokontra sa kapayapaan
IPINAGTANGGOL ng bise presidente ng Pilipinas at kasalukuyang Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary na si Sara Duterte ang kontrobersyal na proposed confidential funds ng kanyang opisina.
Sa nagdaang selebrasyon ng 122nd Police Service Anniversary ng Police Regional Office 13 na ginanap sa Butuan City nitong Miyerkules, October 4, iginiit ng bise presidente ang kahalagahan ng confidential funds para sa seguridad ng bansa.
“Confidential funds play a vital role in maintaining security by providing the necessary resources to address unforeseen challenges swiftly and decisively,” saad ni VP Sara.
Bukod pa rito, binigyang diin din ng bise presidente ang mga taong diumano’y umaatake sa pondong nakalaan para sa “peace and order” ng bansa.
Lahad ni VP Sara, “Anyone who attacks or undermines funds allocated for peace and order is naturally assumed to have insidious motivations.
“Such actions go against the protection and well-being of our citizenry. Those who seek to compromise the security and development of our nation jeopardize the very fabric of our society and hinder our progress.”

Giit pa ni VP Sara, ang mga taong kumakalaban sa confidential funds ay kontra sa kapayapaan.
“Makinig kayo sa lahat ng sinasabi sa palibot ninyo at tandaan ninyo, kung sino man ang kumokontra sa confidential funds ay kumokontra sa kapayapaan. Kung sino ang kumokontra sa kapayapaan ay kalaban ng bayan.”
“We must remain vigilant and steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding our people and our nation,” dagdag pa niya.
Nabanggit rin ni VP Sara ang pagiging miyembro ng DepEd sa Anti-Terrorist Council pati na rin sa National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict bilang pruweba ng “unwavering commitment” ng ahensya para maprotektahan ang mga mag-aaral, mga guro, at iba pang stakeholders nito.
“The safety and security of our people should never be limited by financial constraints or arbitrary timeframes. We must stand united against any attack on funds allocated for peace and order, as they threaten the protection and well-being of our citizenry,” sabi pa nito.
Matatandaang kamakailan lang nang magdesisyon ang Kongreso na alisin ang pinagsamang P650-million confidential funds ng Office of the Vice President at DepEd na pinamumunuan ni VP Sara para sa 2024 at ilipat ito sa ahensyang nakatutok sa West Philippine Sea.
Bago ito, nauna nang maging usap-usapan ang confidential funds nang aminin ni Marikina 2nd District Rep. Stella Quimbo na nagastos ng OVP ang P125-million confidential funds nito noong 2022 sa loob lamang ng 11 araw, taliwas sa naunang report na 19 araw.
Bukod pa rito, naibahagi rin ng Commission on Audit (COA) na ang local government ng Davao City ay nakatanggap ng P3.697-billion confidential funds o tinatayang P460-million kada taon mula noong 2016 hanggang 2022. Ito ay ang termino ni VP Sara bilang alkalde ng naturang lungsod.
