Venus Raj umapela sa pageant fans: ‘Take it easy on the girls…tigil-tigilan na ang pamba-bash!’

PAGEANT season nanaman mga ka-bandera!
At uhaw na uhaw na ang Pinoy pageant fans na makabawi matapos ang sunud-sunod na pagkatalo noong nakaraang taon sa international stage.
Pero bago ang lahat, may paalala ang Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up na si Venus Raj.
Apela niya, iwasan na ang pamba-bash sa mga kandidata!
Kung minsan daw kasi, ang pagkakaroon ng determinasyon na manalo ay nauuwi sa “toxic” na pag-uusap online at nagbibigay rin ng matinding “pressure” sa beauty queens.
Sa isang episode ng “The Major Major Podcast” ni Venus under ng Podcast Network Asia, inihayag ng isang letter-sender ang kanyang pangarap na maging isang beauty queen.
Humingi siya ng payo sa dating beauty queen dahil nahihirapan daw siya na mapahalagahan ang sarili, lalo na’t nakakaramdam siya ng pressure tuwing sasali sa pageants.

Mensahe ni Venus, “Sa lahat ho sa atin na mga supporters ng beauty pageants, please take it easy on the girls. Take it easy on the girls.”
“Yes we’ve earned the sash factor, we’ve become a powerhouse so to speak, but let’s be kinder,” dagdag niya.
Aniya, “It’s a tough competition and there’s just one crown, but allow the girls to celebrate their uniqueness.”
Paliwanag pa ni Venus, “Alam n’yo ‘yung mga babae minsan hindi na ho nila na-eenjoy ‘yung journey nila kasi dahil doon sa pressure na naka-atang sa kanila. So hindi na nila masyado nila na-eenjoy ‘yung journey nila. Allow them to enjoy the journey.”
Ang pamba-bash daw sa mga beauty queen ay hindi nakakatulong sa adhikain ng pageants na nagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa maraming kababaihan.
“Sometimes, we’re taking the competition too seriously that we forget beauty queens are imperfect human beings,” sambit niya.
Dagdag pa niya, “Nakakalimutan ho natin ‘yun. And when we force fit women into a mold or a prototype, it’s not very empowering.”
“It goes against what pageants are supposed to be–a platform that inspires and empowers women. Kaya tigil-tigilan na ho natin ang pamba-bash, okay lang ho ba?” apela ni Venus.
Ani pa ni Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up, “Minsan nakakalungkot that we say we support one candidate, but then the way we support that candidate is we bash other candidates.”
“Eh ‘yang mga ‘yan magkakaibigan ‘yan, they’re sisters. And so anong mararamadan ‘nung kandidata kung sinusuportahan niyo siya pero ‘yung ibang girls na kaibigan nila bina-bash natin. Again that’s not very kind and that’s not very empowering,” ani pa ni Venus.
Ang “The Major Major Podcast” ay mapapakinggan at mapapanood sa Spotify, Apple Podcast at YouTube tuwing Biyernes, 7 p.m.
