Bagong Subic Freeport Expressway, bukas na sa mga motorista

Pormal nang binuksan ang 8.2-kilometer expansion project para sa Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX), araw ng Biyernes (Pebrero 19).

Layon nitong makapagbigay ng mas mabilis at ligtas na biyahe patungo sa Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Pinasinayaan ito nina Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman at Administrator Wilma Eisma, Metro Pacific Investment Corporation (MPIC) President Jose Ma. Lim, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) President Rodrigo Franco, at NLEX Corp President J. Luigi Bautista.

Sinimulan ang proyekto na nagkakahalaga ng P1.6 bilyon noong July 2019.

Nagpasalamat naman si Eisma sa suporta ng gobyerno para sa development ng Subic bilang investment at tourism center.

Kasama sa SFEX capacity expansion project ang konstruksyon ng karagdagang expressway lanes, dalawang bagong tulay sa Jadjad at Argonaut Road, at bagong two-pane tunnel.

Ayon kay NLEX Corporation President Bautista, makatutulong ang proyekto para madagdagan ang road capacity at mapapabilis ang business activities at pagpapadala ng mga suplay at serbisyo sa loob at labas ng Subic.

Ang SFEX o kilala rin bilang Subic-Tipo Expressway o NLEX Segment 7 ay nagkokonekta sa Subic Bay Freeport hanggang sa 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).
