Dating Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, pumanaw na

Pumanaw na sa edad na 90 ngayong Sabado si dating Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.

Sa ulat ng CNN Philippines, kinumpirma ang malungkot na balitang ito ng kanyang anak na si Cynthia.

Nitong Biyernes, sinabi ng kanyang chief of staff na si Ric de Guzman na si Lim ay nasa hospital matapos tamaan ng 2019 coronavirus disease.

May tatlong dekada siyang naglingkod bilang police officer bago pinasok ni Lim ang pulitika.

Dalawang beses siyang naging mayor ng Maynila: una’y mula 1992 hanggang 1998 at 2007 hanggang 2013.

Itinalaga naman siya ni dating Pangulong Corazon Aquino na director ng National Bureau of Investigation mula 1989 hanggang 1992.

Noong 2000, nahirang siyang secretary ng Department of the Interior and Local Government sa administrasyon ni Pangulong Joseph Estrada.

Noong 2004, nanalo siyang senador.

Nakidalamhati ang Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila sa pagpanaw ng tinaguriang “Dirty Harry”  ng Maynila dahil sa kamay na bakal niyang polisiya laban sa kriminalidad.
