Pinoy rock icon Pepe Smith pumanaw na sa edad na 71

PUMANAW na ang Pinoy rock icon na si Pepe Smith o Joseph William Feliciano Smith sa tunay na buhay. Siya ay 71.

Kinumpirma ng kanyang mga anak na sina Daisy Smith-Owen at Sanya Smith ang malungkot na balita sa pamamagitan ng kanilang social media accounts.

Narito ang Facebook post ni Daisy, “Thank you for everything papa bear ko. Thank you for being the best dad in the world. I know youre in the best place now, no more pains papa.. i will see you in few days. I love you to the moon and back.”

Aniya pa, naisugod pa ang kanyang tatay sa ospital kaninang umaga ngunit binawian din ng buhay.

Nag-post naman si Sanya ng litrato sa kanyang Instagram account kung saan yakap-yakap niya ang ama. Wala itong caption pero may double heart at cloud emojis.

Wala pang inilalabas na detalye ang pamilya ni Pepe Smith tungkol sa kanyang pagkamatay pero kung matatandaan, noong November, 2017 ay isinugod siya sa Metro Antipolo Hospital matapos ma-stroke sa ikatlong pagkakataon.

At noong September, 2018 naman ay inoperahan siya sa Philippine General Hospital.

Isinalang ang OPM legend sa Angeles, Pampanga, noong Dec. 25, 1947. Taong 1970 nang maging bokalista at drummer siya ng rock band na Juan dela Cruz kung saan nakasama niya ang mga kilala ring musikero na sina Wally Gonzales at Mike Hanopol.

Ilan sa mga pinasikat niyang kanta ay ang “Beep Beep,” “Balong Malalim,” “Titser’s Enemy No. 1,” “Himig Natin,” “No Touch,” at “Kahit Anong Mangyari.”
