Pimentel iginiit na dapat i-refund ng Sanofi ang P3.5B na ibinayad para sa Dengvaxia vaccine
NANAWAGAN si Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III sa Department of Health (DOH) na igiit sa Sanofi na i-refund ang ibinayad na P3.5 bilyon para sa kontrobersiyal na Dengvaxia vaccines.
Nauna nang inihayag ng DOH nca nagbigay na ito ng mga demand letters sa Sanofi para ibalik ang P1.4 bilyon na bahagi ng mga vaccine na hindi pa nagagamit.
“All the vaccines were defective from the very beginning. Therefore, under our laws, we should demand the whole P3.5 billion we paid them and not just part of it,” sabi ni Pimentel.
Idinagdag ni Pimentel na sa ilalim Civil Code maaaring papalitan o i-refund ang mga depektibong produkto.
“Since there is no possible replacement for the vaccine, refund is the only option,” ayon pa kay Pimentel.
Sinabi pa ni Pimentel na hind pa rin lusot ang Sanofi sakaling magbayad ito ng buo sa harap naman ng posibleng epekto ng bakuna sa 800,000 bata na nabakunahan.
Ang Pilipinas ang unang bansa sa Asia na nag-apruba sa vaccine noong Diyembre 2015.
