Mariz Umali umalma matapos ma-bash, tinawag daw na ‘matanda’ si Medialdea

PUMALAG ang GMA 7 news anchor at TV host na si Mariz Umali sa viral video kung saan tinawag umano niyang “matanda” si dating Executive Secretary Atty. Salvador Medialdea.
Sinabi raw ito ng Kapuso broadcast journalist habang nakahiga sa stretcher si Medialdea nitong nagdaang Martes, March 18.
Nasa The Hague, Netherlands ang news anchor para sa kanilang coverage hinggil sa paglilitis ng International Criminal Court (ICC) sa kasong “crimes against humanity” laban kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Nitong lamang nagdaang araw, isinakay sa ambunsya si Medialdea matapos sumama ang pakiramdam. Sinamahan siya ni Sen. Robin Padilla na nasa Netherlands din ngayon, patungong ospital.
Sa kumakalat nga ngayong video sa social media, isang vlogger ang nag-akusa kay Mariz na tinawag daw niyang “matanda” si Medialdea, na parang bigla raw pumikit nang makita siya.
Agad naman itong sinagot ni Mariz sa pamamagitan ng kanyang Facebook account kung saan nilinaw nga niya na hindi “matanda” ang sinabi niya sa kanyang report.
“I wish to address and clarify an inaccurate claim about me that has gone viral regarding a statement I made about Former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea,” ani Mariz nitong Miyerkules ng gabi, Marso 19.

“A certain vlogger has circulated a post containing my voice, claiming that I referred to Former Executive Secretary Medialdea as ‘matanda’ while he was on a stretcher.
“This interpretation is inaccurate. What I actually said was, ‘Tingnan mo yung ‘mata niya’ (Medialdea), nakabukas siya nu’ng una pero nu’ng nakita niya ako, pinikit.’
“At that time, I, along with our stringer, was reviewing an exclusive footage of Former Executive Secretary Medialdea being taken out of the penitentiary on a stretcher. My observation was purely about his eyes—how they were initially open but closed upon seeing me during my attempt to interview him.
“It is obvious that I was misheard. I want to be clear that no disrespect was intended toward Former Executive Secretary Medialdea. I hope this clarification helps set the record straight,” ang mahabang depensa ni Mariz.
Kasunod nito, marami ang nagsabi kay Mariz na sampahan ng kaso ang nasabing vlogger para maturuan ng leksyon.
