Ito ang sagot ng aktres na si Gabby Padilla nang kulitin ng entertainment vlogger na si Jojo Panaligan na baka manalo siyang best actress sa nakaraang Gala Night, August 6 ng pelikulang “Kono Basho” na entry ng Project 8 Projects at Mentorque Production.
Hindi kasi inaasahan ni Gabby na masusungkit niya ang best actress award sa Cinemalaya dahil ang malakas na bulungan na mananalo ay either si Marian Rivera para sa “Balota” at Mylene Dizon sa “The Hearing.”

Sa madaling salita dark horse si Gabby at isang araw bago ang awards night ng 2024 Cinemalaya ay may nagsabi sa amin na malaki ang laban ng aktres.
At kagabi, Agosto 12 ay nagulat si Gabby na nanalo siya katabla si Marian kaya naman hindi makapaniwala ang una sa first Cinemalaya award niya. Nang tanggapin niya ang kanyang award ay nanginginig siya.
“Sorry, nanginginig ako hindi po ako makapaniwala. Thank you po sa Cinemalaya for giving filmmakers the platform to tell their story every year, thank you so much!

“I’d like to share this award with the rest of Kono Basho team, Mentorque, Project 8, the community of Rikuzentakatam, our Japanese crew team thank you so much, my co-actor Arisa Nakano (Japanese actress) who is with us tonight.

At inialay ng aktres ang kanyang award sa kanyang ama, “This film is about the love of a father and I would like to share this with my own. He is the reason why I’m here tonight, he has taught me to make believe and tell stories.
“So, I’d like to share this award with him for every hills, I hope you see this and I hope he’s happy, thank you po, thank you so much!”
Ito ang unang major award ni Gabby for “Kono Basho” at ang Society of Filipino Film Reviewers para sa pelikulang “Gitling”. Ang iba ay pawang nominado siya, sa FAMAS 2019 sa pelikulang “Billie & Emma”, PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2019 for “Billie & Emma,” QCinema International Film Festival 2018 at 2024 Gawad Urian para sa “Gitling.”
Samantala ang iba pang awards na nakuha ng “Kono Basho” ay Best Director (full-length feature film) para kay Jaime Pacena II, Best Production Design kay Eero Yves Francisco at Best Cinematography para kay Dan Villegas.
