Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor nasa iisang rehiyon na
PINAGSANIB-PWERSA na sa iisang rehiyon ang tatlong probinsya sa Visayas – ang Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental at Siquijor.
Ito ay matapos pirmahan ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang Negros Island Region (NIR) Act noong Huwebes, June 13.
“This union is long overdue and makes very practical sense, especially in the Negros Island, where people are located on one island but are governed under separate administrative regions,” sey ng presidente sa kanyang talumpati recently.
Dagdag niya, “So, for decades now, Negrenses have endured the rigors of sea travel, unnecessary expenses, bureaucratic red tape, inefficiency that this arrangement has brought, especially when there is a need to urgently access government services from regional centers on other islands.”
Binanggit din ni Pangulong Marcos ang hindi pantay-pantay na pag-unlad ng mga lalawigan ng Negros sa kabila ng magkaparehong yaman at industriya.

“We envision as well the NIR as one of the centers of development in the Visayas, further accelerating socio-economic development for the millions of Negrenses and providing strategic convergence regarding resources, investments, and economic planning,” sambit niya.
Bago ang NIR, ang Negros Occidental ay nasa ilalim ng Western Visayas, habang ang Negros Oriental at Siquijor ay parte ng Central Visayas.
Ikinatutuwa naman ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na nasa iisang administrative region na ang mga probinsya dahil magbibigay-daan na ito para sa coordinated efforts, services at resources para sa mga Negrenses.
Magugunita noong Marso lamang nang aprubahan ang final reading nito sa Senate.
Pinagtibay naman ng House of Representative ang bersyon ng Senate sa parehong buwan.
At tuluyan nang naging batas nang pirmahan kamakailan lang ni Pangulong Marcos.
