Chiz nag-sorry matapos mahuli ang pag-aaring SUV sa EDSA bus lane

NAG-SORRY nang bonggang-bongga si Sen. Chiz Escudero matapos mahuli ang kanyang sasakyan dahil sa ilegal na paggamit ng EDSA bus lane.
Nangyari ang insidente nitong umaga ng April 11 kung saan hinarang nga ng mga MMDA traffic enforcer ang isang black SUV na may plakang “7” nang dumaan sa EDSA bus lane.
Pero sa halip na makipag-usap nang maayos ang driver ng naturang sasakyan sa mga sumitang enforcers ay agad pa raw itong tumakas.
Sa isang official statement na inilabas ng kampo ni Sen. Chiz ngayong araw, April 12, ay inamin ng asawa ni Heart Evangelista na nasa pangalan nga niya ang nasabing SUV.
Ngunit hindi raw siya ang nagmamaneho nito noong araw na mahuling dumaan sa EDSA bus lane. Kamag-anak umano niya ang nagmamaneho ng naturang SUV.

Aniya pa, maling-mali ang ginawa ng nagda-drive ng kanyang sasakyan kaya siya na mismo ang gumawa ng paraan para mapaharap ito sa tanggapan ng MMDA at panagutin sa pang-aabuso sa protocol plate.
“In the morning of 11 April 2024, a vehicle bearing protocol license plates issued to me was apprehended by the MMDA for improperly using the bus lane on Edsa.
“The use of the protocol plate was unauthorized, as the vehicle was being driven by the driver of a family member.
“The No. 7 protocol plate was also abused because vehicles with these plates are not allowed to use bus lanes.
“Following the incident, I have directed the driver to appear before the LTO to comply with the show-cause order issued to him and answer the charges he faces for the violation,” pahayag ni Sen. Chiz.
Nangako rin ang senador na ibabalik na lang niya ang nahuling sasakyan sa Land Transportation Office kasabay ng paghingi rin ng paumanhin sa mga kapwa niya senador.
“I do not personally use the protocol license plates issued to me, and forthwith the protocol plates involved in the incident will be surrendered to the LTO.
“I apologize to the public and my colleagues in the Senate for this oversight. Moving forward, I commit to ensure that the protocol plates entrusted to me are used appropriately, consistent with the provisions of Executive Order No. 56, s. 2024.
“I commend the authorities for their vigilance and reiterate my support for government efforts to ensure that traffic rules and regulations in Metro Manila are observed by all – regardless of rank, title, or position,” pahayag pa ni Chiz Escudero.
