Brillante Mendoza sa pelikulang hindi nakapasok sa MMFF 2023: ‘It’s OK…I didn’t expect much’

“WHEN a door closes, a really big window opens.”
‘Yan ang sinabi ng award-winning filmmaker-producer na si Brillante Ma Mendoza nang hindi nakapasok sa 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) ang kanyang dramatic film na “Moro.”
Ayon sa kanya, hindi naman sumama ang kanyang loob dahil alam niyang may ibang nakalaan sa pelikula niya kaya ito nangyari.
“It’s OK. I realized that there’s a different venue for it. I’d like to think of what happened as a redirection,” sey ni Direk Brillante sa isang panayam kasama ang ilang entertainment press.
Kwento pa niya, “When I submitted it to the MMFF, I didn’t expect much, especially when I learned that four (but eventually, six) films will be picked from 30 entries.”

Kasabay niyan ay ibinunyag ng film director na nakasali na ang nasabing pelikula sa ilang international film festivals.
Sa katunayan nga ay naipalabas na ito sa Busan sa South Korea kamakailan lang.
At kasunod niyan ay may screening naman ito sa Goa at Calcutta na parehong nasa bansang India.
“Both of these festivals are considered big in India. About the Busan screening, I was telling Laurice Guillen (lead actress) that I wish she was able to personally hear all the comments about the film and that they will make her feel proud,” pagmamalaki ng Cannes best director.
Sa huli, hindi pinalampas ng reporters na tanungin din si Direk Brillante patungkol sa kanyang komento para sa sampung film entries na nakapasok at napili para sa darating na MMFF.
Para raw sa kanya, ang hiling lang niya ay kumita ang mga pelikula at bumalik na talaga ang sigla ng mga sinehan.
“To be honest, I only wish for all these films to earn and for the audience to return to watching movies in the cinemas,” ani ng direktor.
Ang pelikulang “Moro” ay pinagbibidahan nina Piolo Pascual at Baron Geisler na tungkol sa magkaaway na magkapatid sa Maguindanao na pilit na pinagbabati ng ina hanggang sa nagkaroon na nga ng gulo sa kanilang lugar.
