Nanette Medved mas naging maingat sa pananamit, pagsasalita at pagkilos sa harap ng publiko nang dahil kay Darna

NAPAKALAKI ng naging epekto sa personal na buhay ni Nanette Medved-Po ang pagganap niya noon bilang Darna sa pelikula.
Marami ang nagkokomento na sa lahat ng nag-portray sa iconic Pinay superhero sa telebisyon at pelikula ay si Nanette ang pinaka-favorite nila.
Matatandaang 23 years ago nang magpaalam ang dating actress-model sa mundo ng showbiz pero hanggang ngayon ay nakatatak pa rin sa isip at puso ng mga Filipino ang paglipad niya noon bilang si Darna.
At kahit mahigit dalawang dekada na ang nakararaan mula noong talikuran niya ang pag-aartista ay may mga natatanggap pa rin siyang offer to do movies and TV series pero marespeto niyang tinatanggihan ang mga ito.
Sa guesting ni Nanette sa “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”, binalikan nga niya ang pagbibida niya noon sa pelikulang “Darna” ng Viva Films na naging official entry sa 1991 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Ayon sa aktres, binago ni Darna ang ilang pananaw niya sa buhay ito ang instrumento para maging mabuting ehemplo siya sa publiko.
“I just realize at some point that Filipino fans are amazing. They look up to the artists and really try to…as a role model.
“I didn’t realize I was a role model until much later in my career and when I found out that I was a role model, that’s when everything changed.
“’Ay, wait…’ I need to be much more careful about the roles I choose. I need to be much more careful about what I say in public, what I wear. I became very conscious, the example I was giving to the public,” chika ni Nanette kay Tito Boy.

“It started to happen a little bit before Darna. It solidified in Darna because I remember I was on a float.
“I think it was going down Roxas Boulevard and I was on a float and I was looking down and you had mga lola, you had mga apo.
“Yes, they were all there and they were looking up, and I think they couldn’t separate me from the character.
“And therefore, I had to be very conscious of how I behave not only to protect the Darna image but also to protect what they thought was how you behave in the world.
“And I wanted to be careful that I was modelling the behavior I want to see in the world rather than talk about things that were frivolous.
“Even to this day, I’m very careful about the messaging I put out in the world. I think that’s super important,” pagbabalik-tanaw ni Nanette.
