Fil-Am comedian JR de Guzman magpapakitang-gilas sa Pinoy audience, may limitasyon ba ang pagpapatawa?
AS FAR as comedy is concerned, ang feeling ng California-based Fil-Am comedian na si JR de Guzman ay kaya niyang mag-joke on anything and everything.
“There’s not really anything that I wouldn’t touch if I could make it funny,” say niya during an online conference for his “Later That Evening” show which will staged by MYX at The Theatre at Solaire on June 3.
“But I won’t find something on the line just to be on the line,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon sa komedyante, magagawa niyang mag-joke sa isang bagay kung feeling niya ay nakakatawa ang topic.
“But if it’s a topic that I genuinely think that I can have a funny perspective on, then I would do it. But there’s something that I don’t have opinion on that is worth bringing to the stage.

“People way, they come to see your show. But I want to talk about things that this is about worth performing,” paliwanag niya.
“If another comic is doing a topic that is risky and they’re doing their job to make it funny, by all means do it. So, for me, I don’t think there’s anything that I would not talk about.

“That being said, I have done something that people would message me, send me e-mails and it’s really like, ‘so, I stop doing this,’” he added.
Naniniwala din siyang kahit naman anong joke ay meron pa ring mao-offend,
“Every joke in your set, somebody can find something to be offended by.”
“So, if you cut out every joke that offended one person, you wouldn’t have a set,” paliwanag niya.

Minsan nga ay napapatanong na lang siya kung ano ang mali sa kanyang joke, “Am I actually like an assh*le or is this person just being sensitive. I ask myself that every night before I go to sleep.
“But I do think that if you generally believe in it and believe that it’s funny, then you should keep it in yourself,” say niya.
Born in the Philippines and raised in California, JR was also named New Face in “Just for Laughs 2017” and got featured in the Netflix special “The Comedy Lineup” and Comedy Central’s “Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City.”
He also previously released an album called “Dual Citizen.”
The Manila leg of “Later That Evening” was made possible by MYX, which advocates for Asian music and is on a mission to create a culture that showcases Filipino and Asian talent on a global scale.
