GABICA umabante sa Last 32 ng WORLD POOL

UMABANTE si Filipino cue artist Antonio Gabica sa round-of-32 matapos talunin si Nguyen Anh Tuan ng Vietnam, 11-8, sa pag-uumpisa ng knockout stage ng 2013 WPA World 9-Ball Championship kahapon sa Al Arabi Sports Club sa Doha, Qatar.

Si Gabica, na sumalang sa unang sesyon, ay isa sa 12 Pinoy billiard players na sumabak sa Last 64 ng torneo kahapon.
Hindi naman pinalad si Efren “Bata” Reyes na makapasok sa Last 32 matapos biguin ni Nick Van Den Berg ng Netherlands, 11-5.
Ang Fil-Canadian na si Alex Pagulayan ay hindi rin nakausad matapos daigin ni 2001 World  9-Ball champion Mika Immonen ng Finland, 11-6.

Sa iba pang resulta sa Session 1 ng Last 64 kahapon, pinadapa ni Oliver Ortmann ng Germany si Chang Jung Lin ng Taiwan, 11-6; tinambakan ni  Ko Pin Yi ng Taiwan si Ryu Seung Woo ng Korea, 11-2;  naungusan ni Wu Chia Qing ng China si Chao Fang Pang ng Taiwan, 11-8; nilampaso ni Toh Lian Han ng Singapore si Kong Bu Hong ng Hong Kong,  11-5; at dinurog ni Hsu Kai Lun ng Taiwan si Phil Burford ng United Kingdom, 11-6.

Ang 32 manlalaro na nakalusot sa round-of-64 ay sasabak naman sa isang single elimination na race to 11. Ang round-of-16 hanggang semifinals ay magiging race to 11 match din habang ang finals ay isang race to 13.

Ang tatanghaling kampeon sa 2013 World 9-Ball Championship ay tatanggap ng $36,000 habang ang runner-up ay mag-uuwi ng $18,000.
