DAHIL kayang tumagal ng virus sa iba’t ibang lugar nang hanggang siyam na araw, hinikayat ng environmental health organization ang publiko na itapon nang tama ang kanilang mga face masks pagkatapos gamitin.
Ayon kay Jove Benosa, ng EcoWaste Coalition, lalong dadami ang kaso ng dadapuan ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) kung hindi magiging maayos ang disposal ng mga nagamit na disposable face masks.
Sa March 2020 issue ng The Journal of Hospital Infection, sinabi ni Benosa na “human coronaviruses can remain infectious on inanimate surfaces for up to nine days.”
“As the virus can live on surfaces for a number of days, discarded masks may become a potential source of infection,” pahayag ni Benosa.
