NCR archer nakatumbok ng ginto sa Palaro

HINDI pinahintulutan ni Pacifico Aranas II na hindi magkakaroon ng gintong medalya ang National Capital Region (NCR) sa archery nang pangunahan ang Olympic round sa kalalakihan kahapon sa Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex sa Tagum City.

Ang 14-anyos na Grade 9 mag-aaral sa Mahatma Gandhi International School sa Pasay City ay dinaig si Anatacio Pellicer III ng Central Luzon, 6-2, para makadagdag sa paglayo ng NCR sa overall championship sa kompetisyong suportado ni Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario katuwang ang Tagum Agricultural Development Company Inc. (TADECO), Damosa Land, Davao Packaging Corporation (DPC), Davao International Container Terminal, Inc. (DICT) at Pearl Farm Beach Resort.

“It was a tense match because he was shooting very well and has won the five gold medals in the FITA round. I just keep my focus,” wika ni Aranas na third seed sa kalalakihan.

Ito na ang ikalawang pinakamalaking panalo sa isang national tournament ni Aranas at ang una ay ang isinagawang Philippine Indoor Archery Championships noong nakaraang taon at ang kanyang tinalo sa finals ay si national player Gabriel Moreno.

Umabot na sa 57 ginto bukod sa 47 pilak at 38 tansong medalya ang nalikom ng NCR at 20 na ang lamang nila sa pumapangalawang Calabarzon na may 37-29-32 medal count. Ang Western Visayas ang nasa ikatlo sa 29-33-28, bago sinundan ng Cordillera Autonomous Region (17-16-10) at Northern Mindanao (17-8-21).
