Naganap ito sa mismong pagdiriwang ng Chinese New Year nitong January 29, 2025 sa pangunguna ng Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII).

Sabi ni Jessica, 25 percent ang kanyang pagiging Chinese, “Ang lolo ko who came from Guangdong province around 90 years ago, they did not have much, sabi nga only with the shirts in their back.

“Somehow they made it here, nagkaroon kami ng malaking pamilya at I’m very happy that tonight they are honoring my Chinese side. Eh ako naman I feel this is also my chance to honor my Chinese grandfathers.

“Unfortunately they passed away na, hindi sila nakabalik ng China, except for one. Nakapasyal siya and then I also count myself na lucky na I had the chance in 2007 to trace my roots to that very small village outside of Guangdong City,” pahayag ng Kapuso journalist.

“So hindi pala alam ng marami na I have Chinese blood. So again this is wonderful for me,” aniya pa.

“I’ve always believed that embracing our roots gives us the strength to create impact beyond borders. As we celebrate the Year of the Snake, I’m honored to be recognized once again by the FFCCCII for my contributions to the Filipino-Chinese community, both locally and internationally,” mensahe ni Michelle.

“Although I’m not there physically to accept the recognition, I’m deeply honored and forever grateful,” dagdag pa niya.
