Karylle bet na bet ang teatro: A special place in people’s hearts

MALIBAN sa pagiging TV host ng noontime show na “It’s Showtime,” bakit nga ba laging binabalikan ni Karylle ang pagiging theater actress?
‘Yan lamang ang isa sa mga naitanong sa kanya nang magkaroon ng press conference ang pagbibidahan niyang upcoming broadway musical na “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Ang sagot niya, “I don’t know, there’s just this big thrill…and I actually got to talk to a lot of people.”
Ayon pa sa kanya, gustong-gusto niya ring maging parte kung saan nagkakasama ang mga pamilya upang mag-enjoy.
“Nagta-travel pa sila mula sa kung saan mang dako ng Pilipinas para manood and they would really dress up and you know, it was just a special day for the family,” kwento niya.

Esplika pa ng TV host-actress, “It holds up a special place in people’s hearts and keeps them coming together and it makes them feel great. So I love that and I think I want to be part of that.”
“I mean, I have daily shows in ‘[It’s] Showtime’ where we get to talk to everyone, but ‘yung sa theater iba rin siya kasi parang it brings families from different generations together,” aniya pa.
Nabanggit din ni Karylle na tuwang-tuwa siyang makasama sa “Little Shop of Horrors” dahil ito raw ang pinakapaborito niya sa lahat ng musical plays.
“‘Little Shop’ has always been my secret, it’s my favorite but it has always been my secret since I was a kid and I am so excited that it is gonna be known by more people,” saad niya sa entertainment press.
Ang nabanggit na broadway ay parte ng selebrasyon para sa ika-10th anniversary ng The Sandbox Collective na mapapanood mula July 6 to 28 sa Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater sa BGC.
Ang kwento nito ay base sa 1960 film ni Roger Corman na may kaparehong titulo.
Bukod kay Karylle, tampok din sa Manila leg sina Nyoy Volante, Reb Atadero, Markki Stroem, David Ezra, Audie Gemora, OJ Mariano, Mikee Baskiñas, Abi Sulit, Paula Paguio at Julia Serad.
Ang nasabing broadway rin ang nagsisilbing theatrical debut ng Kapamilya actress na si Sue Ramirez.
Siya ang kahalinhinan ni Karylle bilang ang bidang karakter na si “Audrey.”
