‘Little Shop of Horrors’ star-studded; bibida sina Sue, Karylle, Nyoy, Reb

KAABANG-ABANG at puno ng pasabog ang upcoming broadway musical sa darating na Hulyo!
Ito ang “Little Shop of Horrors” na pinagbibidahan ng TV host-actress na si Karylle at singer-actor na si Nyoy Volante.
‘Yan din ang magsisilbing theatrical debut ng Kapamilya actress na si Sue Ramirez kung saan ang makakatambal niya ay ang theater actor na si Reb Atadero.
Ang show ay bilang parte ng selebrasyon para sa ika-10th anniversary ng The Sandbox Collective.
Ang kwento ng nasabing musical ay base sa 1960 film ni Roger Corman na may kaparehong titulo.

“[It] tells the tale of Seymour Krelborn, a down-on-his-luck floral assistant, who discovers a mysterious plant with an insatiable appetite for human blood. As the plant, named Audrey II, grows and gains fame, Seymour finds himself tangled in a web of fame, love, and moral dilemmas,” saad sa inilabas na press release.”
Noong June 5, nagsama-sama ang main cast sa naganap na press conference sa Quezon City upang ibandera kung ano ang mga aasahan sa upcoming broadway.
Pero bago ‘yan, ipinasilip nila sa ilang entertainment press, kabilang na ang BANDERA, ang ilan sa mga nakakabilib nilang performances.
Bukod kina Karylle at Nyoy, marami rin ang humanga kay Sue na nagpakitang-gilas sa pagkanta at nakipagsabayan sa mga batikang theater actors.

Ayon sa mga bumubuo sa show, bukod sa marami silang inihandang sorpresa at pasabog, tiyak na marami ang makaka-relate sa istorya ng “Little Shop of Horrors.”
“Dito sa show na ‘to, I think, marami kasing relatable. For example, ‘yung urchins [na] role naming apat [with Abi Sulit, Paula Paguio at Julia Serad]. The urchins are trying to be street smart as possible, pero still trying to be sassy kasi they are also striving for a better life, they are always dreaming for a better life, and I think that’s one thing na relatable sa maraming tao. I think everyone can enjoy it and there’s something in it for everyone,” sey ni Mikee Baskiñas.
Dagdag ni Nyoy, “It’s a show about choice. Sometimes you’re caught in a situation where it’s a choice between tama ‘yung gagaiwn mo, pero hindi siya masyadong maganda sa iyong career or love life sa buhay mo, and then a choice na medyo hindi maganda sa kapwa mo or sa loved one mo, pero ikaw aangat ka or yayaman ka. Mga false victories na tinatawag.”
“But you know, we can all relate to this kasi at one point in our lives or probably hanggang ngayon, we’re going through something like this na hindi natin alam kung ano talaga ang gusto nating gawin –kung tama ang gagawin natin or ‘yung makakaganda sa buhay,” wika pa ng aktor.
Para naman kay Sue, “It also says about self love. I think, ang laki ng mare-realize niyo dito na grabe, we’re always relying on other people to make us happy. [But] we can make ourselves happy on our own.”
Ipinagmamalaki rin ng cast ang mala-Pinoy pop girl group nila sa broadway musical na tinawag na “Urchins.”
“[We also] have a P-Pop girl group here in skid row, so you gotta watch out for the Urchins! Why you should watch? We have our own P-Pop group,” proud na sabi ni Abi Sulit.
Ani naman ng direktor ng show na si Toff de Venecia, “It’s a good team. I’m so happy to be working with this cast.”
Ang “Little Shop of Horrors” ay mapapanood simula July 6 hanggang July 28 sa Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater sa BGC.

Ang shows ay tuwing 3:00 p.m. at 7:30 p.m. tuwing Sabado at Linggo. May Biyernes din tuwing 8:00 p.m.
Maghahalinhinan bilang si “Seymour” sina Reb at Nyoy, habang magpapalitan din sa set sina Sue at Karylle sa bidang si “Audrey.”
Ang mga gaganap naman na kontrabidang dentista na si “Orin” ay sina Markki Stroem and David Ezra.
Si Audi Gemora ang gaganap bilang si “Mr. Mushnik” at si OJ Mariano ay papapel bilang ang bloodthirsty plant na si “Audrey II.”
Ang “Street Urchins” ay gagampanan nina Mikee Baskiñas, Abi Sulit, Paula Paguio, at Julia Serad.
