Miss Earth pageant itatanghal sa Vietnam sa Dec. 16; bet ng Pinas na si Yllana Aduana bumandera sa UN

MAGBABALIK sa Vietnam ang Miss Earth pageant para sa ika-23 edisyon nito ngayong taon, at sa December 16 kokoronahan ang bagong reyna, ayon sa Vietnamese organizer sa isang press conference nitong Hulyo 21.
Dumalo rin sa pagtitipon si reigning titleholder Mina Sue Choi, ang unang Koreanang nagwagi sa patimpalak.
Isa ang Vietnam sa dalawang bansa lang sa labas ng Pilipinas na naging host ng Miss Earth pageant. Unang itinanghal ang pandaigdigang patimpalak doon noong 2010, para sa ika 10 edisyon.
Itatanghal ang pageant sa NovaWorld sa Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, kung saan inaasahang magtitipon ang nasa 90 kalahok mula sa iba’t ibang bansa.

Dumalo ang kinatawan ng Pilipinas na si Yllana Marie Aduana sa isang United Nations (UN) conference para sa 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) kamakailan sa headquarters ng Samahan sa New York sa Estados Unidos.
“I had the opportunity to listen to world leaders, and other speakers from different countries. But more than that, I was also gifted with a privilege to raise the flag of the Philippines as the reigning Miss Earth-Philippines by having been given a chance to talk in front of other world leaders about my cause,” sinabi niya sa Inqurier sa isang online interview.
“I focused on sharing how I observed that most of our students and audience do not have an idea about the synergy of SDGs and climate action. And I personally can’t blame them.
“Especially in the Philippines where we experience a high rate of poverty, hunger, and medical problems, climate action may possibly be perceived to be least of their priorities. But this is what I do as a spokesperson of the climate and [the SDGs],” ibinahagi niya.
Tatangkain ni Aduana na maipagpatuloy ang pananaig ng Pilipinas sa kumpetisyong isinilang sa Maynila sa pamamagitan ng pagtatala ng ikalimang panalo ng bansa.

Isa nang beterana ng pageants, may ilang taon siyang karanasan sa mga pambansang patimpalak na makatutulong sa kanyang makamit ang inaasam. Una siyang sumali sa Miss Philippines Earth pageant noong 2021, at nagtapos bilang runner-up. Noong taong iyon din, kinoronahan din siya bilang Miss FIT (face, intelligence, tone) Philippines.
Semifinalist naman siya sa 2022 Binibining Pilipinas pageant, kung saan tinanggap din niya ang parangal bilang “Face of Binibini.”

Sinabi ng Pilipinang reyna na marami siyang natutunan sa UN conference. “It was repeatedly said in the room that we are still off track from achieving the 2030 Agenda and the 17 [SDGs], and we only have seven years left.
“What struck me the most is a statement from one of the UN ambassadors saying that we can all have different people coming together now, the resources, the science and innovations, but only solid political will and government funding can be the key to achieve the 2030 Agenda,” aniya pa.
Makatutulong din umano ang pagdalo niya sa UN conference upang masungkit ang korona. “To be a Miss Earth, she has to be someone who can confidently be in the same room with anyone to talk about her causes and agenda, whether it be students, children, adults, policymakers, decision-makers, and world leaders across nations. Because that is what makes her an effective spokesperson not only for the planet but also for the people,” ani Aduana.
“Attending the conference just proves that I am here to make a lasting impact beyond pageantry. I am here not to waste and take advantage of the platform of the Miss Earth, but to use it effectively and even elevate it.
“The conference made me learn new imperative things to impart to other people. But also, being able to use my voice and platform to raise my causes in a reputable organization like the UN as soon as now opens multiple doors of opportunities for me, the organization, the pageant, and everyone involved,” pagpapatuloy pa niya.
Pilipinas ang pinakamatagumpay na bansa sa Miss Earth pageant na may apat na reyna—sina Karla Paula Henry (2008), Jamie Herrell (2014), Angelia Ong (2015), at Karen Ibasco (2017). Tinatag ang taunang kumpetisyon ng Manila-based na Carousel Productions nina Ramon Monzon at dating beauty queen na si Lorraine Schuck.
