Pangako ni Bretman Rock sa Pinoy fans: ‘I’ll always be myself, I’ll always be gay as hell and Filipino as hell!

SIGURADONG ikinatuwa at ikinakilig ng mga Filipino fans and supporters ng Filipino-American content creator na si Bretman Rock ang kanyang binitiwang pangako recently.
Nangyari ito sa naganap na Unforgettable Gala ng 20th Annual Asian American Awards sa Beverly Hills, California kung saan tumanggap ng award si Bretman para sa Digital Influencer category.
Ang nag-abot ng kanyang trophy ay ang sikat na beauty guru na si Michelle Phan at ang kapwa Fil-Am content creator na si Bella Poarch na sikat na sikat na rin ngayon sa Pilipinas at sa iba’t iba pang bansa.
Ayon sa nasabing award-giving body, napili nilang bigyan ng award si Bretman, “for being his true self and outspoken for the API and LGBTQ communities as he encourages his millions of followers and beyond to be their best selves without fear of judgment.”
Sa kanyang acceptance speech, ibinandera ni Bretman ang pagiging proud Filipino at binalikan ang naging pagsisimula niya noon bilang isang YouTuber na may kaunting subscribers hanggang sa maging multi-awarded social media star.

“Thank you so much Character Media, thank you to all of you for being here tonight…thank you for giving me a sense of belonging,” ang simulang mensahe ni Bretman.
Naaalala pa rin daw niya ang panonood niya ng mga Filipino TV shows noong bata pa siya at kahit nakatira na sa Amerika ay hindi pa rin niya nakakalimutan ang naging buhay niya sa Pilipinas.
“Everything I absorbed on TV was Filipino people…I was always seeing myself on TV.
“All of that just to say how grateful I am for my generation to have so many options when it comes to expressing our creativity.
“We don’t only have TV, we don’t only have movies, we have YouTube and TikTok–in long and short formats. Like girl, our possibilities are endless,” dagdag pa ng social media influencer.
At ang pangako nga niya sa lahat ng kanyang mga tagasuporta, “If there’s one thing I can finish off with my speech, because it’s getting long, I feel like I have the longest speech tonight…it’s just that I promise I’ll always be myself. I’ll always be gay as hell, Filipino as hell.”
Si Bretman Rock Sacayanan Laforga ay tubong-Cagayan. Sa edad na 7 ay napunta siya sa Hawaii hanggang mabigyan siya ng Filipino-American citizenship through naturalization.
Una siyang sumikat noong 2016 matapos mag-viral ang kanyang contouring video. Taong 2017, kinilala siya ng Time magazine as one of the 30 Most Influential Teens.
At noong 2020, ni-launch ni Bretman ang sariling makeup collection in collaboration with Wet n’ Wild Cosmetics at nagkaroon din ng sariling MTV reality last year titled “MTV Following: Bretman Rock.”
