Angelina Jolie nagretiro na bilang ‘UNHCR special envoy’ matapos ang mahigit 20 years

BUKOD sa pagiging artista, ginugol din ng sikat na Hollywood actress na si Angelina Jolie ang kanyang panahon na tumulong sa mga “refugees” o ‘yung mga taong sapilitang naninirahan sa ibang bansa dahil sa nangyayaring gulo sa kanilang sariling bansa.
‘Yan kasi ang parte ng kanyang trabaho bilang “special envoy” ng U.N. refugee agency (UNHCR).
Pero matapos ang dalawampung taon, inanunsyo ng aktres sa social media na binitawan na niya ang nasabing papel niya sa U.N.
Sey ni Angelina sa kanyang Instagram post, “After over 20 years, I am stepping down today from my work with the UN Refugee Agency.
“I believe in many things the UN does, particularly the lives it saves through emergency relief.”
Bagamat nagretiro na siya bilang U.N. special envoy ay patuloy pa rin daw siyang tutulong sa mga refugees at mananatili bilang humanitarian activist.
“UNHCR is full of amazing people making a difference to people’s lives every day. Refugees are the people I admire most in the world and I am dedicated to working with them for the rest of my life,” aniya.
Patuloy pa niya, “I will be working now with organizations led by people most directly affected by conflict, that give the greatest voice to them.”

Sa inilabas naman na pahayag ng UNHCR, lubos na nagpapasalamat ang U.N. high commissioner for refugees na si Filippo Grandi para sa serbisyo na ibinigay ni Angelina.
Pahayag ni Grandi, “Angelina Jolie has been an important humanitarian partner of UNHCR for a very long.
“We are grateful for her decades of service, her commitment, and the difference she has made for refugees and people forced to flee.
Sabi pa niya, “After a long and successful time with UNHCR, I appreciate her desire to shift her engagement and support her decision.
“I know the refugee cause will remain close to her heart, and I am certain she will bring the same passion and attention to a wider humanitarian portfolio.”
“I look forward to our continued friendship,” ani Grandi.
Sa kabuuan ay nagkaroon ng mahigit 60 field assignments si Angelina sa ilalim ng UNHCR.
Nag-umpisa siyang maging special envoy ng organisasyon noon pang 2012.
Nitong taon lamang ay bumisita siya sa Yemen at Ukraine upang makita nang personal ang mga refugees.
