DTI may paalala sa publiko: Dapat siguradong ligtas ang mga Christmas lights

Nilabas na ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) ang listahan ng mga certified brand ng Christmas lights.
Ito ‘yung mga pailaw na may Philippine Standard (PS) certifications marks o kaya naman ay Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.
Ayon sa DTI, Ito ‘yung patunay na dumaan ang mga produkto sa tamang proseso ng safety standards ng ahensya.
Makikita rito ang listahan ng mga certified brand ng Christmas lights na may valid PS certification mark license.
Narito naman ang mga may ICC certificates at stickers.
Paalala rin ng DTI sa publiko na mag-ingat sa pag konekta ng Christmas lights sa kuryente, at itapon na ang mga sirang pailaw upang maiwasan ang posibleng pagmulan ng sunog.
Ayon pa sa Director ng DTI’s Bureau of Philippine Standards na si Neil Catajay, pinag-aaralan na rin nilang gawan ng certification at standard system ang mga produktong parol.
Sey niya, “‘Parols’ are not included in our certification scheme.
“But the good news is that we have already coordinated with our partner standards development organization.”
Dagdag pa niya, “They [UL] have available standards for seasonal decorative lights and that is applicable to our parols.
“Within the year, we want to have it promulgated as a national standard so we can use that to certify the products made by parol makers.”
Sinabi ni Catajay na ang intensyon ng gobyerno ay hindi para higpitan ang pagbebenta ng mga parol, kundi tulungan ang mga parol-maker sa Bulacan at Pampanga dahil nag-e-export sila sa mga merkado ng ibang bansa, tulad ng United States.
