ISANG “rare type” ng cancer ang dumapo sa asawa ni NLEX player Kevin Alas at PBA courtside reporter na si Selina Dagdag-Alas.
Ibinahagi ni Selina sa publiko ang kanyang health condition sa pamamagitan ng Instagram kung saan naglabas nga siya ng saloobin sa pinagdaraanang sakit.
Aniya, na-diagnose siya ng Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia o GTN na isang uri ng bihirang o madalang na uri cancer. Ayon sa Johns Hopkins Medicine, ang gestational trophoblastic disease ay isang “term given to a group of rare tumors that develop during the early stages of pregnancy.”
“I got diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia almost a month ago. When I first heard of the news, I fell on Kevin’s arms as I repeatedly cried, ‘Help me, God!'” simulang pagbabahagi ng misis ni Kevin.

Inamin din niya na kung may isang bagay siyang talagang kinatatakutan sa buhay, yan ay ang pagkakaroon ng cancer. Sabi ni Selina, “Cancer was my biggest fear. And to have it in my twenties was a big shock for me. But I praise the Lord that He has already made Himself known to me during this season of my life.
“Back then, I would’ve thought this was a cruel prognosis. I would’ve been bitter, angry, even resentful. But through His grace alone, and the gift of His word- I know better.
“Though I may not know the answer to my ‘whys’, I know I am in the hands of a tender Father who ordained this from the beginning of my life for my good, and His glory- because He loves me.
“Though it is difficult to see now, there is IMMENSE love in and behind all these. With God, there are no plan Bs. This is his plan A; He has a good purpose, and He has it all under control. As such, I rest and trust in Him,” paglalahad pa ng PBA courtside reporter.
Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “Some days are pretty tough, but I am blessed by the love, prayers, and encouragement of Kevin, our family, our churchmates, and our friends.
“Above all, I am blessed with the fellowship of Christ. All glory to Him alone. Kindly keep us in your prayers,” pakiusap pa ni Selina.
Noong January, 2022 malungkot ding ibinahagi ni Selina na nakunan siya sa panganay sanang anak nila ng asawang basketball player.
“Kevin and I found out we were 5 weeks pregnant. Sadly, entering the 2nd month, we learned that the pregnancy did not progress and I miscarried,” ayon sa IG post ng PBA courtside reporter.
Marami namang nakisimpatya sa pinagdaraanan ngayon ni Selina at halos lahat ay nagsabing magpalakas siya at ipagpatuloy lang ang laban. Ipagdarasal din daw nila na sana’y matanggal na ang cancer sa kanyang katawan at mapabilis na ang kanyang pagpapagaling.
