Meralco customers pinayuhan na hintayin ang bagong bill bago magbayad

PINAYUHAN ni House committee on energy chairman Lord Allan Velasco ang mga kustomer ng Manila Electric Company na hintayin ang bagong bill na nakabatay sa aktwal na reading ng metro bago magbayad.

Sa virtual hearing ng komite ni Velasco, sinabi ni Victor Genuino, first vice president at head ng Customer Retail Services and Corporate Communications ng Meralco, na magsasagawa na ng aktwal na meter reading ang kanilang mga tauhan.

“In the meeting, we were able to get the assurance of Meralco that consumers can disregard their estimated billing which were questioned by many of its customers,” ani Velasco.

“Hopefully by June 8, Meralco would have completed actual meter readings and thereafter send another bill with correct charges. In this correct billing, Meralco will indicate that the customer’s meter had been read. Pending the delivery of accurate billing, consumers do not need to pay yet and Meralco assures that no disconnection of electricity will happen in case of unpaid billing during the ECQ (enhanced community quarantine),” dagdag pa ni Velasco.

Sa pagdinig ay sinabi rin ni Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Agnes Devanadera na kung mayroon mang sobrang siningil ang Meralco ito ay ibabalik sa kustomer.

Ang mga hindi kukuha ng refund ay maaari umano na ibawas na lamang ito sa susunod na babayaran.

Sinabi ni Devanadera na mayroon na ring inilatag na mekanismo upang hindi maging biglaan ang pagbabayad ng nakonsumo sa panahon ng Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Ang mga kumokonsumo ng 200 kiloWatt hour pababa bawat buwan hanggang noong Pebrero ay may anim na buwan upang bayaran ang kanilang bill sa panahon ng ECQ at MECQ.

Ang mahigit sa 200 kWh ang konsumo ay mayroong apat na buwan para bayaran ito.

Ang pagbabayad ay magsisimula sa Hunyo 15.
