Pag-aresto sa taga-San Roque hindi tugon sa kanilang kumakalam na tiyan-Gabriela

HINDI umano masosolusyunan ng pag-aresto sa mga residente ng Sitio San Roque sa Quezon City ang kumakalam na sikmura ng mga ito.

Ayon sa Gabriela Women’s Party sa halip na pagpapaluin at arestuhin ay dapat kinilala ng pulisya ang dahilan ng paglabas ng mga residente.

“Using excessive force and detention will not quell the empty stomachs of Filipinos who up to this day remains denied of the promised P200-billion cash aid for the poor,” saad ng Gabriela.

Sinabi ng Gabriela na lalo lamang itinutulak ng gobyerno sa mas mahirap na kalagayan ang mga mahihirap sa pag-aresto sa kanila.

“Paano mananahimik at hindi kikilos ang mga mamamayang ilang araw nang kumakalam ang tiyan? Kagyat na tulong ang kailangan nila at hindi kulong. Unlike those who have buffers and savings, the people of Sitio San Roque have nothing to scrape in the bottom. They are largely informal sector workers who survive on meager incomes from day to day and who are not covered by social protection measures.”

Punto pa ng grupo mas marami pa ang naaresto ng pulisya sa pagpapatupad ng Enhanced Community Quarantine kaysa sa taong na-test kung positibo sa COVD-19.
