Paolo Duterte inis sa pakikialam ng Gabinete sa speakership race

KINONDENA ng mga kongresista kasama na si presidential son at Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte ang mga miyembro ng Gabinete na nakiki-alam umano sa pagpili ng magiging speaker ng Kamara de Representantes.

Sa isang pahayag ay inanunsyo rin ng siyam na kongresista ang kanilang pagbuo sa Duterte Coalition upang makapaghatid ng makatotohanang pagbabago sa bansa.

Sinabi ng grupo na ilang beses ng sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na hindi ito makiki-alam sa speakership race kaya hindi rin dapat nakiki-alam ang mga miyembro ng Gabinete sa pagpili ng magiging lider ng Kamara.

“It has come to our attention that certain Presidential Cabinet members have their bet for Speaker. Everyone should note that, Cabinet members serve only on the basis of the trust and confidence of the President and should not participate in the selection of the Speaker.”

Hindi gaya ng mga miyembro ng Gabinete na itinalaga lamang sa puwesto, iginiit ng grupo na ang mga kongresista ay mayroong mandato mula sa mga botante kaya nararapat na sila ang pumili ng kanilang magiging lider.

“Let us draw the line to define the independence of the Executive and the Legislative branches of the government,” saad ng pahayag. “As members of the House of Representatives, Hugpong ng Pagbabago and Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod hope to unite the House.”

Nanawagan din ang grupo sa iba pang kongresista na sumali sa kanilang koalisyon.

Sinabi naman ni Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, isa sa top contenders sa speakership race, na sumasali ito sa panawagan ng koalisyon na magkaisa upang maisulong ang reform agenda ng Pangulo.

“I join hands with the Duterte coalition in establishing a House of Representatives that truly reflects the will of our people,” ani Romualdez. “Let every Speakership aspirant subject himself to the scrutiny of his peers, who shall be the ultimate judge on who shall be the primus inter pares. May the best man win.”

Ayon naman kay Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco, isa ring speaker-wannabe: “I am one with the call and aspirations of the newly-formed coalition and implore my fellow lawmakers in Congress to set aside their personal ambitions and agenda and join the Duterte Coalition so together we can build a House of Representatives that is united and stronger, a House that truly represents the people.”
