Ali Sotto nag-audition bilang newscaster: Sabi sa akin, ‘don’t call us, we’ll call you’
“You know it’s a little known fact that when I was 17 or 18, I auditioned as a newscaster tapos ang sabi sa akin ‘don’t call us, we will call you’ and they never called.
“So bata pa lang ako gusto ko ng News and Public Affairs nalihis lang ako sa singing as a recording artist tapos naging artista ako sa film and TV, naging impersonator ako ni Imelda (Marcos).
“Naging host ako ng mga talk shows bago ako nalinya sa mga public affairs shows and then finally I ended up in News and Public Affairs several decades later,” dagdag pa niya.
I am where I initially wanted to be. Considering nga lang graduate ako ng Communications Arts sa University of Santo Tomas and I put to good use ’yung two years ko sa Ateneo College of Law.
“I guess life has a funny way of putting you where God wants you to be so lahat naman ng taon ko that I spent in entertainment, gamit ko pa rin ngayon,” pahayag pa ng TV host-actress.
Napasalamat din si Ali sa lahat ng awards at recognitions na ibinigay sa kanya, kabilang na ang award mula sa Rotary Club of Manila bilang Radio Female Broadcaster of the Year.
“So, I am now finally where I want to be. And the recent spate of awards from the Rotary Club of Manila, ‘yung Journalism Awards nila, ‘yung Dr. Jose R. Perez Memorial Award sa FAMAS, and then the Gandingan Award.
“It’s really been a good past year for me.
