HINIGPITAN ng Perlas Pilipinas ang depensa nito sa second period para mabigo ang Singapore, 69-43, sa SEABA Women’s Championship na ginaganap sa Bukit Serindit Indoor Stadium sa Malacca, Malaysia.

Nagpakawala ang mga Pinay ng 21-4 rally sa quarter na ito para tambakan ang kalaban at di na lumingon pa.

Sa tindi ng depensa ng Perlas Pilipinas ay nagkamit ng 14 turnovers ang Singapore na nagresulta sa 16 puntos para sa mga Pinay.

Nanguna para sa koponan ang Most Valuable Player ng WNCAA na si Chak Cabinbin na isinama sa lineup matapos na umatras ang Fil-Am guard na si Sofia Roman na kasalukuyang nag-aaral sa Estados Unidos.

Si Cabinbin ay nagtapos na may 16 puntos sa laro. Nagdagdag naman ng 10 puntos si Camill Sambile habang may siyam na puntos naman si Allana Lim.

“We were a little bit sluggish. We came here 1:30 p.m. and it was like siesta time,” said Perlas Pilipinas coach Patrick Aquino. “But I’ve told the players, you’ve got to work hard from start to finish and you can’t have that kind of start from teams like Malaysia,Indonesia and Thailand.”
