Jay-R pumayag maging ‘Back-up Singer’ ni Michael Pangilinan
Our baby, ang Bagong Kilabot Ng Mga Kolehiyala Michael Pangilinan, releases his third single from his self-titled album under Star Records (Michael Pangilinan: Bakit Ba Ikaw?) entitled “Ang Saksi Ko” penned by Vehnee Saturno.
Napakaganda ng R&B-yish song na ito originally composed sana by Vehnee for the R&B Prince Jay-R. For some reason ay hindi ito nai-record ni Jay-R and when Michael came to life sa recording business, nagustuhan namin ang said song for him kaya no choice si Vehnee but to ask permission kay Jay-R kung puwede niyang i-award ang song kay Michael.
And Jay-R gave it away to us. In fact, maririnig sa song na ito ni Michael ang boses ni Jay-R as part ng back-up ng “Ang Saksi Ko”. Ang suwerteng bata nitong si Michael – imagine, si Jay-R pa mismo ang back-up niya.
“Iyan ang pinakagusto kong song ni Michael sa album. Iba ang hagod kasi. Class na class. Sa totoo lang, halos magasgas na ang CD ko dahil every morning iyan ang pinakikinggan ko sa bahay.
Pagkagising ko iyan agad ang pinatutugtog ko. I just love it soooo much,” anang anak-anakang Dominic Rea na grabe ang paghanga sa baby niyang si Michael. Honestly, noong una kong narinig ang song, parang hindi ko ito bet.
Parang bitin ang dating sa akin. Pero habang niri-record na ito ni Michael, I started to like it and in fact, loved the lyrics. Kantang-kanta talaga ang naging effect nito to my ears.
Suplada kasi ang tenga ko sa music kahit hindi naman ako singer. I may say that I have very good ears sa music. That’s my gift. I know when a singer is off-key, flat, sharp or what. Very strict ang pamantayan ko sa pagkanta.
It’s not enough for me that you belt at your best, what is more important sa akin ay yung soul, yung emosyon na hatid sa akin ng isang awiting as sung. And this one, “Ang Saksi Ko”, is a potential hit too. May sariling market ang song na ito.
In fairness to the first two songs ni Michael sa album (Bakit Ba Ikaw? na siyang carrier single at Kung Sakali na isang revival that hit the record charts ng iba’t ibang FM stations) ay sobrang hit and wishing that this third single comes at par with them.
Kaya when you hear this song being played on radio, tatak-Michael Pangilinan iyan, OK?
