East team wagi sa All-Star slam dunk

NEW ORLEANS — Lumundag si John Wall sa harap ng Washington Wizards mascot para pangunahan ang East sa dominanteng pagwawagi sa West sa slam dunk contest ng NBA All-Star Saturday.

Ang nakagigilalas na slam dunk ni Wall ang tumapos sa pagwalis ng Wizards star guard at mga Eastern Conference teammates nitong sina Indiana Pacers forward Paul George at Toronto Raptors guard Terrence Ross sa contest na gumamit ng panibagong format.

Matapos ang dunk shot ni Sacramento Kings rookie Ben McLemore kung saan lumundag siya kay dating NBA star Shaquille O’Neal na nakaupo sa kanyang trono, tinapatan ito ni Wall na kinuha ang bola sa ulo ng Wizards mascot na pinadaan niya sa pagitan ng kanyang hita tungo sa pagsasagawa ng reverse dunk.

“It was only my second time doing it. My first time was on Thursday,” sabi ni Wall. “So I just felt comfortable with myself and I knew it was a dunk that hasn’t been done before.”

Ang mga judges na sina Dominique Wilkins, Magic Johnson at Julius Erving ay nagkaisa namang ibinigay ang panalo kay Wall sa matchup nito kay McLemore matapos na ipanalo rin sina George at Ross laban kina Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes at Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

Samantala, napanalunan ni San Antonio Spurs guard Marco Belinelli ang 3-point contest habang sina Lillard at Utah Jazz rookie Trey Burke ang nagwagi sa skills challenge para pagkalooban ng dalawang panalo ang Western Conference squad.

Sina Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh, Wilkins at WNBA star Swin Cash ang nagbigay sa East ng unang panalo nito matapos manaig sa NBA Shooting Stars contest.

Pinilit naman ng NBA na pasiglahin ang All-Star Saturday sa pagbabalik nito sa New Orleans matapos na magsagawa ng pagbabago sa format nito.
At ang pinakamalaking pagbabago ay ginawa sa dunk contest, na hinati sa dalawang bahagi.

Ang unang bahagi ay ang freestyle portion kung saan ang mga koponan ay may 90 segundo na magsagawa ng kahit ilang dunk shots bago sinundan ng tatlong 1-on-1 matchup sa battle format.

Kinailangan naman ni Belinelli ng tiebreaker sa 3-point contest para talunin si Wizards guard Bradley Beal, na tinapatan ang kanyang final-round score na 19.

Kumamada si Belinelli ng event-high score na 24 puntos para manalo sa tiebreaker.
