Regine tinuruan ng leksyon ni Lord kaya nawalan ng boses sa ‘Silver’

PARA sa nag-iisang Asia’s Songbird na si Regine Velasquez, ang 25th anniversary concert niyang “Silver” ang hinding-hindi talaga niya malilimutan.
Ito yung concert ng OPM icon na naganap sa SM Mall of Asia Arena noong November 16, 2012.
Binalikan ni Ate Regs ang mga nangyari sa kanyang anniversary concert sa “Korina Interviews” sa Net25 nang matanong ni Korina Sanchez ang isyu sa pagpiyok ng mga biriterang singers.
Sey ni Korina, “Ang Asia’s Songbird ay pumipiyok din. Grabe, siguro pag pumiyok ka, major. Kasi major yung mga nota mo, e.”

Tugon ni Regine, “Yes. Actually, hindi ko yun… tinrain ako ng tatay ko na hindi yun mangyayari sa akin. Nangyari lang yun nung nawala yung boses ko.”
“It was my 25th year anniversary in the industry. You know, I just gave birth. Ang tagal akong hindi nag-concert.

“Kasi I wanted to be a hands-on mom. So I stayed at home for, like, four years or hanggang five years. Hanggang mag-five years old si Nate. Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Orchestra pa yun,” pag-alala ni Regine.
Patuloy pa niyang kuwento, “The night before the show, parang may nararamdaman na ako na something’s weird, but I didn’t focus on it kasi parang itutulog ko lang.
“But the following day, when I woke up, my voice totally gone. Nawala, walang sound. So I went to the doctor. They gave me steroids. Still nothing.
“I was talking to my sister. Sabi ko, ‘Paano to? Paano to? We cannot cancel.’ Because it’s hard. You cannot just do that. Kasi, day itself na,” chika ng wifey ni Ogie Alcasid.
Nawala raw bigla ang boses niya nu’ng mismong araw ng concert, “I got sick. Kasi my son got sick. Siyempre, I have to take care of him. My sister got sick. My director got sick.
“And they all have something in common, they all lost their voices. Hindi ko naman akalain na, kasi wala naman ako nararamdaman, e.
“I think it was just like a regular cold, cough and cold, whatever, or flu. Pero yung voice yung tinamaan. So I totally lost my voice.
“The thing with me kasi, even if I don’t have a voice, I still can sing. This one is not like that. I had to push through with it. Tapos pumipiyok ako, kasi wala, e, wala talagang voice. Naka-steroids na ako nu’n ha!” saad ni Ate Regs.
Tanong ni Korina kay Regine kung bakit hindi sila puwedeng mag-cancel ng concert. Tugon ng Songbord, “Mahirap kasi mag-cancel, e. Kasi day itself na, e.
“Hindi mo na masasabihin lahat ng mga tao na cancel, tapos bayad na lahat. Hindi mo na puwedeng 50 percent lang yung ano, hindi na puwede yun.
“So I had to push through with it. Parang naka-12 songs ako. But I could see, alam mo yung audience, yung hirap na rin sila for me.
“And nakakatawa nga kasi, sila na yung kumakanta ng kanta ko sa akin. Sila na yung kumakanta. And feeling ko, parang nahihirapan na rin sila.
“So I had to cut the show. But I promised to do it again. So, ginawa ulit namin, I think December,” sey pa ng OPM at gay icon.
“But you know, yun yung pinaka-memorable ko na concert. Kasi ang fear naming mga singers, fear talaga namin to. Like, I would dream about it, yung tinatayuan ka ng audience.
“Yung tatayuan ka ng audience mo, fear ko yun. Like greatest fear ko yun. I thought they were gonna do that. But they didn’t. They didn’t. They stayed.
“They tried to enjoy the show even though it was hard for them to see me sing like that.
“And they were singing along. There was a time they were just the ones singing my song to me. I think it was ‘Araw Gabi’ that they were singing,” pagbabahagi pa ni Regine.
Dagdag pa niya about the concert, “It was very memorable. Kasi may mga learnings din, e. Kasi at that time, I wasn’t doing concerts for a while. Parang, meron akong out to prove something, I still have it.
“And I totally missed the whole point of doing the concert. It was just to celebrate with the people who’ve supported me all these years. And to also be grateful for God’s gift to me.
“Yun lang yung dapat na inisip ko. Hindi ako dapat nag-isip na, ‘No, this is for revenge. I still have it.’
“Ganu’n ba? So I remember, for revenge, I still have it. Ganu’n ba? So I missed the lessons. Sabi nga, di ba? Feeling ko, ganu’n. Kasi He wanted me to learn something from it,” aniya pa.
“And we offered a refund kung ayaw na nilang manood. Pero alam mo, walang nag-refund. They all went back. They all watched. Kaya sobrang memorable talaga yung Silver,” sabi pa ni Ate Regs.
