Gerald binigyan ng ‘medalya’ matapos mag-rescue sa bagyong Carina

KINILALA ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang heroic deed ng Kapamilya actor na si Gerald Anderson sa gitna ng pananalasa ng bagyong Carina sa ating bansa.

Magugunitang nag-viral sa social media ang ginawang paglangoy at pag-rescue ni Gerald sa mga na-trap sa bahay dahil sa tumaas na tubig baha sa Quezon City.

Para sa mga hindi aware, ang kanyang pagtulong ay bilang bahagi ng search and rescue operations bilang auxiliary commander ng PCG.

Sa Instagram ng isa sa armed uniform service ng bansa, makikita ang ilang pictures ni Gerald na binigyan ng medalya –ang “Search and Rescue Medal.”

Bukod sa pag-rescue, sinaluduhan din ng nasabing ahensya ang patuloy na pakikiisa ng aktor pagdating sa humanitarian and disaster response operations.

“He is always present during the Coast Guard’s relief operations and disaster rehabilitation,” sey ni Coast Guard Rear Admiral Balilo sa post.

Wika niya, “He continues to help Aetas in Zambales, recovering families in Marawi, and even donated medical supplies and tents during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Together with Auxiliary Ensign Julia Barretto and other PCGA members, Auxiliary CDR Anderson also donated bags filled with school supplies for the children of Pag-Asa Island.”

Sa interview ng ABS-CBN News, inamin ni Gerald na lubos ang pasasalamat niya dahil na-recognize ang kanyang efforts.

“But I share this award with other rescuers, sa other volunteers, lahat ng nag-donate para makatulong din sa iba,” sambit niya.

Bukod diyan, ibinunyag niya rin na plano niyang magbuo ng isang team na dedicated lang sa search and rescue operations, kasama siyempre ang PCG.

“Gusto ko talaga magbuo ng search and rescue team na who will be ready anytime. Kasama yung ibang celebrity friends who are also willing. Because of what happened, na-encourage sila maging part ng squadron namin,” paliwanag ng aktor. 

Patuloy niya, “I’m talking with the Coast Guard, meron kaming gagawin na mas permanent na situation for a search and rescue team.”
