Matteo kabado sa unang MMFF entry na ‘Penduko’, dumaan sa matinding training: ‘It’s a big responsibility… justice is coming on Dec. 25’

“KINAKABAHAN ako dahil first MMFF movie ko ito, there’s so much pressure!” ang pag-amin ni Matteo Guidicelli sa entry nilang “Penduko” mula sa Viva Films.
Para kay Matteo, napakalaking responsibilidad ang pagganap niya bilang bagong Penduko sa pelikula lalo pa’t lalaban ito sa 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival na magsisimula sa December 25.
Marami ang humuhula na magiging topgrosser ang “Penduko” this year dahil pwede itong panoorin ng mga bata. Reaksyon ni Matteo, “It’s very overwhelming. It’s a big responsibility and I call it, ‘Justice is coming on December 25.’
“Unang-una, kinakabahan ako dahil first MMFF movie ko. There’s so much pressure. Physically, I prepared my physique months before this movie happened. I came from America, I gained weight.

“So, before shooting this film, I lost twenty pounds. We designed a proper fitness regimen. I started doing cross fit for two months and after that, I started running a lot para lumiit ako bigla,” sey ng husband ni Sarah Geronimo sa naganap na mediacon ng “Penduko” kahapon, October 24.

Bukod dito, kinarir din ng TV host-actor ang pagsabak sa acting workshop with the guidance of character actress Ruby Ruiz na nagsilbi niyang acting coach.
“I requested Tita Ruby Ruiz na maging acting coach ko kasi may relationship na kami. She used to be my acting coach.
“Nag-training po kami mga three to four weeks bago pumunta sa set. Gusto ko talaga, handa tayo bago pumasok.
“I came into this knowing na talagang malalim na Tagalog ang gagawin namin. Matinding mga fight scene at matinding dramahan.

“Sabi ko talaga sa aming producer, I want to be prepared before I step on the set, not just physically but also acting-wise.
“My goal was kapag darating ako sa set ng Penduko, I want to be free. Hindi ko na po iisipin yung mga linya at yung mga mangyayari. Gusto ko mag-react lang sa co-stars ko.’

“Sobrang pressure po ito. Sabi ko, I’d like to be hundred percent prepared,” sabi pa ni Matteo.
Samantala, natanong din si Matteo kung paano niya nababalanse ang kanyang panahon para sa kanyang trabaho at personal na buhay.
Isinakripisyo muna ni Matteo ang kanyang hosting job sa “Unang Hirit” nang magsimula ang shooting ng “Penduko” na sumabay pa sa taping ng serye nila ni Ruru Madrid na “Black Rider”.
“Siyempre po, yung priority ko kasi sa buhay ngayon, bilang isang asawa. I want to be there for my wife all the time and after that, work comes in. We really plot our schedules properly.
“Nag-break muna ako sa Unang Hirit ng one month dahil medyo maaga masyado. Itinigil muna natin ang Unang Hirit, one month lang pagkatapos babalik na ako,” aniya pa.
