TAPE Inc naglabas ng statement ukol sa kasong isinampa ng TVJ: It is not a copyright infringement
NAGSALITA na ang legal counsel ng TAPE Inc na si Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque ukol sa reklamong inihain nina Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, at ng dating vice president for production na si Jeny Ferre laban sa TAPE Inc. at GMA Network.
Matatandaang naghain ng copyright infringement at unfair competition complaint sa Marikina Regional Trial Court Branch 273 ang original hosts ng “Eat Bulaga” dahil sa umano’y illegal na paggamit ng titulo ng noontime show maging ang logo, music, at mga segment pati na rin ang pag-ere ng mga replay episodes ng dating “Eat Bulaga” nang walang pahintulot mula sa kanila.
Kagabi, July 12, ay naglabas na nga ang kampo ng TAPE Inc. sa pamamagitan ng legal counsel nitong si Atty. MaggieAbraham-Garduque sa Kapuso news program na “24 Oras”.
“It is not a copyright infringement. Eat Bulaga name, the design of the name and the logo is a trademark and not subject of copyright,” sey ni Atty. Maggie.
Dagdag pa niya, “TAPE Inc. has the registration of the tradename Eat Bulaga so they cannot file infringement against the registered owner of the trademark.”

Aniya, ang petisyon na inihain ng TVJ para kanselahin ang trademark ng “Eat Bulaga ay pending pa rin.
“Their petition for cancellation of trademark of Eat Bulaga is still pending before the IPO and until such time that said petition is granted, the trademark Eat Bulaga and EB will be owned by TAPE Inc,” lahad pa niya.
Hinihiling naman ng TVJ sa korte na itigil na ng produksyon ang paggamit ng pangalan, logo, at kanta sa bagong “Eat Bulaga”.
Bukod pa rito, nais rin nilang pagbayarin ang TAPE sa mga damages nito na nagkakahalagang nP20.98 million.
