Mike Tan naging ‘selfless’ mula nang maging ama: It’s no longer just about me…

KASABAY ng pagdiriwang ng Father’s Day, ibinahagi ng Kapuso actor at celebrity daddy na si Mike Tan ang ilang pagbabago sa kanyang pananaw bilang isang magulang.
Ayon sa kanya, ang pinaka natutunan niya raw ay maging “selfless.”
“There were big changes in my life and my priorities. It’s no longer just about me. When I go out [to work] I think about other people. I’m not only providing for myself, but for my growing family,” sey niya sa isang virtual conference para sa kanyang ongoing afternoon soap opera sa GMA 7 na “The Seed of Love.”
Para sa mga hindi pa masyadong aware, may dalawang anak si Mike sa non-showbiz wife na si Cris – ito’y sina Victoria na 4 years old, at Priscilla na 3 years old naman.
Ayon sa actor, isa sa mga dahilan kaya niya pinagbubutihan lalo sa trabaho ay para mabigyan ng magandang kinabukasan ang kanyang mga anak.

“I’m constantly thinking about them… I think about their future,” sey niya.
Dagdag pa niya, “I wonder about the right way to raise them. I think about the values I want them to have as they grow up.”
“They motivate me. They’re the ones I always look forward to after working,” ani pa niya.
“I also think about which school I have to send them to in the future… about their tuition!” saad pa ng aktor habang tumatawa.
Kahit noong single pa si Mike ay madalas na siyang gumanap bilang ama sa ilang mga proyekto, pero ang pagkakaiba raw ngayon ay mas naiintindihan na niya ang kanyang karakter bilang ama.
“I have been doing this for a while—even back when I didn’t have a family yet,” sambit ng aktor.
Chika pa niya, “At first, I couldn’t fully relate to the father roles I played. I had to draw emotions from somewhere else.”
“But now, I feel like there’s more depth to my portrayals because I’m now a family man,” paliwanag niya.
“It’s different when you have actual personal experiences—you can just tweak them a little for the role,” dagdag niya.
Ani pa ni Mike, “You have a more nuanced understanding of the character. You have more experience, a bigger inventory of emotions to tap into.”
