Cardinal Tagle sa pagsibak sa kanya sa Caritas: A process of humility and discernment

NAGSALITA na si dating Manila Archbishop Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle matapos siyang tanggalin sa pwesto bilang presidente ng charity at disaster relief agency ng Vatican na “Caritas Internationalis (CI).”

Sinabi ni Cardinal Tagle sa Vatican News na ang desisyon ni Pope Francis ay para sa relaunching ng ahensya na kailangang dumaan sa proseso ng tinatawag nilang “humility” at “discernment.”

Sey ni Tagle, “This is a call for walking humbly with God and a process of discernment, confronting our unfreedoms and following the spirit of freedom, [and] at the same time, the walking together of different cultures in their unique expressions of humanity.”

Inamin din ng kardinal na nakakalito nga ito sa iilan dahil ang nangyari ay kasunod ng isinagawang “independent review” sa operasyon ng CI na nakitaan ng seryosong kakulangan umano sa pamamahala.

Pero paglilinaw ni Tagle na ang itensyon ni Pope Francis ay para mas mapabuti ang kanilang ahensya.

“I would like to assure you that this is not, this is not, this is not about sexual harassment or sexual abuse. This is not about, again, mismanagement of money … the decree clearly stated the intention,” ayon kay Tagle.

Wala pang pahayag mismo si Pope Francis tungkol sa desisyon niyang tanggalin sa pwesto ang lahat ng bumubuo ng CI.

Pero ayon sa kanya, ito ay bilang paghahanda sa darating na halalan ng ahensya.

Pansamantalang hinirang ni Pope Francis si Pier Francesco Pinelli, isang Italian management consultant, bilang temporary CI administrator.

Ayon sa pahayag na inilabas ng Vatican noong November 21, “With the entry into force of this measure, members of the Representative Council and the Executive Council, the President and Vice Presidents, the Secretary General, the Treasurer and the Ecclesiastical Assistant shall cease from their respective offices.”

Sa inaasahang transition, tutulungan ni Tagle si Pinelli na paghandaan ang general assembly na mangyayari sa Mayo ng susunod na taon para sa eleksyon ng CI.

Sa isang text message sa INQUIRER, sinabi ni Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President na si Bishop Pablo Virgilio David na inaasahan na nila ang mangyayari kay Cardinal Tagle sa CI mula pa noong itinalaga ito bilang “prefect of the Dicastery for the Evangelization of Peoples.”

Sey ni Bishop David, “Good heavens, those are two full-time jobs that cannot possibly be handled by one person.

“Understandably, it took time before Pope Francis could find a replacement and implement a long overdue reorganization of Caritas.”

Si Cardinal Tagle ay isa sa mga itinuturing “papabile” o isang taong karapat-dapat na maging papa dahil sa pagkakaroon ng maraming posisyon sa Vatican.

Siya ay naging head ng Dicastery for Evangelization sa Rome noong 2019.

Pero bago pa ‘yan ay dalawang beses na siyang naging CI President simula pa noong 2015.
