Anne Nelson itinama si Darryl Yap: There is nothing in it that says the nuns played mah-jongg with Cory Aquino
NILINAW ng author ng “In the Grotto of the Pink Sisters” na si Anne Nelson ang katotohanan sa isa sa mga kontrobersyal na scene ng pelikulang “Maid in Malacañang” na idinirek ni Darryl Yap.
Isang netizen ang nag-reach out sa manunulat sa pamamagitan ng e-mail matapos aminin ng direktor ng pelikula na ang article niya ang pinagbasehan nila sa mahjong scene ni ex-President Cory Aquino kasama ang mga madre.
“If you read the actual text (that you included), my piece says that Cory Aquino visited the nuns for the purpose of meditation and prayer,” umpisa ng pahayag ni Anne Nelson.
Pagpapatuloy niya, “It then says that Christine Tan spoke to ladies ‘from her own comfortable background’ who played mah-jongg about the problem of poverty in the Philippines.”
Aniya, mukhang nalito raw si Darryl Yap at napagsama ang dalawang magkaibang pangungusap.
“There is nothing in it that says the nuns played mah-jongg, with Cory Aquino or anyone else,” sey ni Anne Nelson.
Dagdag pa niya, “I should note that there was an unauthorized Tagalog translation of the piece published in the Philippines that misrepresented my reporting.”
Nagpatulong rin si Anne Nelson sa netizen na nagngangalang si Elmer na sana ay maipaabot nito ang katotohanan sa kanyang sinulat at maiayos ang kumakalat na balita sa social media.
Bukod rito ay nagsalita na rin ang manunulat sa kanyang official Twitter account dahil marami na rin siguro sa netizens ang nagkukumpirma at humihingi ng kanyang pahayag dahil sa inilabas ni Darryl Yap na ang kanyang akda nga ang naging “basis” ng pinakakontrobersyal na bahagi ng kanyang pelikula.
“In my 1989 article on Cory Aquino (see attached) I wrote 1) she visited the Pink Sisters to pray; 2) she was a friend of Sister Christine Yap; 3) Christine Yap gave talks to affluent women who sometimes played mah-jongg. No mention of Aquino or Yap playing mah-jongg,” paglilinaw ni Anne Nelson.
