Maris Racal at Rico Blanco
“I feel kasi also we’re working in this space na she’s doing music, I’m doing music. She’s acting, she’s serious about her craft.
“So baka doon ako nakahanap ng area na siguro comfortable ako pag-usapan, because it’s not really a private thing, it’s about something that we’re both passionate about.
“And so maybe yun yung window or yun yung doorway para mapag-usapan, yun yung something that might be considered private,” paliwanag ni Rico sa nakaraang virtual mediacon para sa bagong version ng “Pinoy Big Brother” themesong na “Pinoy Tayo.”
Dagdag pang sabi ng singer-composer, “I’d like to think that we still keep a lot of things private but we’re also excited to share when it’s about music or it’s about our art.
“So it’s not really difficult. I’m as surprised as you guys are,” natatawa pang chika ng binata.
“Parang hindi masyado nagbago kasi I’ve always had this studio at home and I’ve always worked this way.
“So I didn’t really change but I guess it’s more accepted now so I’m getting a lot more work done kasi tanggap na ng tao na I don’t need to go to the meeting physically,” pahayag pa niya.
Nakapag-adjust na rin daw si Rico kahit paano sa new normal, lalo na ang pagwo-work from home pero, “May challenge pa rin especially pagdating sa session musicians. Ang hirap pa rin nu’ng hindi mo kasama sa isang kuwarto when you’re figuring out if it’s a band kind of song.
Pero I realized that yung work with band feel or orchestra, ang hirap yung element na yun so I would say nadalian ako sa ibang aspect pero yung ibang aspect naman mas mahirap pa rin.
“Pero I’m thankful naman na kahit paano there are ways pa rin. Art always finds ways to be expressed. Whether may pandemya yan or may gera or whatever the darkest days of mankind, art will always have a place and the same can be said in this day and age with what we’re going through.
“Yesterday I checked out a Facebook page ng isang session musician na nag-set up na ng drums and recording niya sa kuwarto ng in-laws niya and sabi ko wow this is so amazing.
“Hindi mo ma-imagine yun before so may konting silver lining.
Rico Blanco’s single “Pinoy Tayo” is now available for streaming on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, YouTube, and on all digital streaming platforms worldwide.
