Nikki nahirapang sagutin ang tanong ng teenager na anak na, ‘Ano po ang pansexual?’

TEENAGER na rin ngayon ang anak ng Kapamilya actress na si Nikki Valdez at alam niyang darating ang araw na magkakaroon na rin ito ng sariling mundo.
Ngayon nga raw ay napakarami na nitong itinatanong sa kanya, may mga question ang bagets na nasasagot niya nang bonggang-bongga pero meron ding hindi.
Sa ginanap na presscon ng bagong digital series ng ABS-CBN, ang “Love Beneath The Stars” (sequel ng Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 entry na The Boy Foretold By The Stars), naikuwento ni Nikki ang tungkol sa naging pag-uusap nila ng anak na si Olivia.
Natanong kasi ang aktres tungkol sa isyu ng pagkakaroon ng anak na bading o lesbian na siyang tema ng kanilang serye kung saan ginagampanan niya ang loving and understanding mother ng karakter ni Keann Johnson na na-in love sa kaklase niya played by Adrian Lindayag.
Ayon sa aktres, bata pa lang siya ay exposed na siya sa buhay ng mga beki, tomboy at ng mga transgender at halos sa showbiz na siya lumaki kasama at katrabaho ang mga ito.
“In my 24 years, I have been exposed to the LGBTQ+ community. All my life nakapaligid sila sa amin. They’re very happy people. Love is universal so who are you to choose for a person?
“Sobrang open kami ng anak ko. And then I told her, ‘When the day comes, ito yung choice mo. I will support you.’ That’s what i told her,” pahayag ni Nikki.
Patuloy pa niyang paliwanag, “Since my daughter just turned 13 recently, Olivia and I we’re very open to each other. We tell her that, ‘Anything that you want to know’, kahit hindi kami agree at some point, ‘ang importante is you are open to us.’
“At the age of 13, she has recently asked me what is being a pansexual about. So ako, sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam yung isasagot ko kasi hindi ko alam.
“I’m not very much aware of yung description ng preferences ng mga tao.
“But I made a research on it and ang take ko diyan, sabi ko nga my character here resonates so much because I found myself telling her na, ‘It’s okay. I would rather you discover on your own kung ano yung tingin mo ang choices mo but be open,” lahad ng aktres.
Ano naman ang message niya sa mga manonood ng bago nilang new BL o boys’ love series? “That we are entitled to showing how we truly feel about someone. But aside from respecting yourself and respecting others, we have rules to abide with na hindi ka lalagpas doon.
“Basta hindi ka nakakatapak ng ibang tao, hindi ka nakakasakit ng ibang tao, you have all the right to go for what you believe in and to love who you want to love,” pahayag ng Kapamilya star.
Nang i-offer daw kay Nikki ang role bilang nanay ni Keann sa “Love Beneath The Stars” ng iWantTFC, agad niya itong tinanggap.
“Natutuwa ako to be part of this sequel, kasi in the movie nabanggit ata yung relationship ni Luke with his mom and
“I’m really happy to be doing this role. Maganda yung backstory niya. She’s not just a cool mom but accepting and understanding of her son’s choices and decisions. I’m really grateful to be representing yung mga parents or yung mga moms na ganu’n,” aniya pa.
Ang iWantTFC original series na “Love Beneath the Stars” ay magsisimula na sa Lunes, Aug. 16 at ito’y mula sa direksyon ni Dolly Dulu.
