NGO nababahala sa pagkalat ng Covid-19 sa inililikas dahil sa nag-aalburutong Bulkang Taal

Nagbabala ang nongovernment group na Save the Children na ang paglikas na dulot ng nag-aalburutong Bulkang Taal ay maaaring maging sanhi ng pagkalat ng Covid-19.
Itinaas na ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology ang Alert Level 3 matapos maitala ang tatlong phreatomagmatic eruption simula kahapon ng umaga.
Ilang barangay sa mga bayan ng Agoncillo at Laurel ang itinuturing na mga high-risk areas. Umaabot sa 21,500 ang mga apektadong residente dito.
Hanggang ngayong Sabado, mahigit sa 2,400 na mga indibidwal ang inilikas at dinala sa mga evacuation center, ayon sa mga awtoridad.
Sinabi ni Jerome Balinton, Humanitarian Manager at Save the Children in the Philippines, na lubhang kumplikado ang sitwasyon sakaling muling pumutok ang Bulkang Taal.
“We are also concerned that, amidst the chaos of the evacuations, families will be unable to follow social distancing guidelines and are at risk of being infected with the virus. There are 16 active cases of COVID-19 reported in Agoncillo and Laurel. If the evacuation of families becomes overwhelming, it may contribute to the spread of the virus,” wika ni Balinton.
Dahil dito, umapila si Atty. Albert Muyot, Chief Executive Officer ng Save the Children in the Philippines, sa mga lokal na opisyal na siguruhin ang kaligtasan ng mga bata at mga pamilyang ililikas.
Sa nakalipas na 24 oras, umabot sa 48 na volcanic earthquake ang naitala sa Bulkang Taal.
Umaabot sa average na 10,254 tonnes per day sulfur dioxide emission ang ibinubuga ng bulkan simula noong Hulyo 2.
Paalala ng Phivolcs, off limits pa rin ang pagpasok sa mga high risk na barangay sa Agoncillo at Laurel.
Ipinagbabawal din ang pangingisda sa Taal Lake.
Pinapayuhan din ng Phivolcs ang mga piloto na iwasang lumipad malapit sa Bulkang Taal dahil sa posibleng biglaang pagsabog o pagbuga ng pyroclastic density currents o base surge, volcanic tsunami, ashfall, at poisonous gas.
