NAURONG na ang pagsasagawa ng Tokyo Olympic Games sa taong 2021 bunga na rin ng pandaigdigang banta ng coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at isa si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president at Tagaytay City congressman Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino na pumabor na iurong muna ito.
“It’s the right decision—for athletes, officials, organizers and spectators.
For our safety. And it’s (postponement) better because it is not cancelation of the Games,” sabi ni Tolentino, na pangulo ng Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines o PhilCycling.
Makabubuti rin diumano ito sa ating mga atleta ayon kay Tolentino dahil mas makakapaghanda sila ng husto at mas lalaki ang tsansa nating makapagpadala ng mga lalahok sa Olympics.
“May chance pa rin tayo sa medals for those who qualified because they can train more and chance to qualify more,” sabi pa ni Tolentino.
Sa kasalukuyan ay mayroong 33 sports na nagdaraos pa ng Tokyo Olympics qualifying events at hindi pa natatapos ang mga ito bunga ng pananalasa ng COVID-19.
