Duterte inihayag ang term-sharing nina Cayetano at Velasco bilang Speaker

INIHAYAG ni Pangulong Duterte na si Taguig Representative Alan Peter Cayetano ang magiging Speaker ng Kamara, bagamat ito’y magiging term-sharing sa pagitan niya at ni Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco.

“So, your Speaker will be Alan Peter Cayetano. Ang sharing dito is he shares the term with Lord Velasco. And si (Leyte Representative Martin) Romualdez will be the Majority Floor Leader,” sabi ni Duterte sa kanyang talumpati matapos naman ang panunumpa ng mga bagong opisyal sa Malacanang.

Nakipagpulong sina Cayetano, Velasco at Romualdez kay Duterte sa Malacanang.

“I tried to distance myself from the… But apparently I said it’s time that I talk. So ganun ho ang ano — that’s the set-up,” dagdag ni Duterte.

Sinabi naman ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo na magiging Speaker si Cayetano sa unang 15 buwan.

“It’s Allan Cayetano as the Speaker in the first 15 months, then the next 21 months, the Speaker will be Lord Allan Velasco, with Martin Romualdez as the Majority Floor Leader,” sabi ni Panelo.

Idinagdag ni Panelo na hiniling ng tatlo ang tulong ni Duterte para maresolba ang problema hinggil sa speakership.

“Since the election of the Speaker has resulted in a bitter and fractious rivalry that threatens the break-up of political allies, the President, to save the unity of the alliance and avert its fragmentation, obliged to the request of the three candidates, who to their credit agree to respect the choice of PRRD,” ayon pa kay Panelo.
