PINIRMAHAN ni Pangulong Duterte ang 2019 national budget, nakabitin pa rin ang P500 annual medical allowance at P1,000 World Teachers’ Day bonus ng mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan.
Ayon sa Alliance of Concerned Teachers bagamat matagal na dapat ibinigay ang mga benepisyong ito sa ilalim ng 2019 budget ay nakalagay ito sa “conditional implementation”.
Bagamat tagumpay ng mga guro kung ituring ang dagdag na benepisyo, mawawalan umano ng saysay ang batas na ginawa para rito kung hindi naman ipatutupad.
“The challenge is now upon President Duterte to ensure that the GAA provision for teachers’ benefits be properly and promptly implemented, which is frankly the least he can do for us as we wait for him to deliver on his promise to increase our salaries,” ani Joselyn Martinez ng ACT.
Wala umano itong pinag-iba sa pangako ni Duterte noong 2016 na itataas ang sahod ng mga guro pero 2019 ay hindi pa rin ito nangyayari.
