MMFF MOVIE REVIEW: Do you believe in OTLUM’?

Jimmy Alcantara - December 28, 2018 - 12:07 PM

I believe tungkol siya sa kid who wants to fit in with the cool crowd at school na who was bullied into staying the night in a haunted orphanage, kills himself and takes revenge on his oppressors.

I believe na if you haven’t seen it in the cinema, beware, because it’s not scary and it’s too short (80 mins running time).

I believe na mga uto-uto na lang ang matatakot sa mga “ghosts” na namumuti ang mukha dahil sa kapal ng face powder at nakasuot ng puting kumot.

I believe na ang ginamit na sound effects, to build up suspense and intensify the scares, ay nagamit na noong panahon pa ng unang Shake Rattle and Roll in 1984!

I believe the characters are made of cardboard and tired stock thus lacking motivation and who use words like hashtag para magmukhang uso, kaya it’s useless to root for anyone.

I believe the acting is what you would expect in a film sloppily directed like this and that’s sayang pera.

I believe it’s a total head scratcher and not worth your hard-earned sweldo kaya go and see Anne Curtis’ Aurora na lang.

I believe it’s OTLUM.

And I thank you.
