Pananakit ng tauhan ng MMDA sa vendor kinondena

Dapat umanong masibak ang tauhan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority na nanakit sa mga pinapaalis nitong sidewalk vendor.     Ayon kay Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo, chairman ng House committee on Metro Manila Development, hindi dapat magdalawang-isip ang MMDA na alisin ang tauhan nito na mapatutunayang guilty.     “I do not understand why the enforcers have to maul the poor vendor. They have the numbers and they could have simply restrained him if he was unruly,” ani Castelo.     Sinabi ng solon na dapat na gampanan ng MMDA ang kanilang mandato ng hindi lumalabag sa batas.     “Beating up the vendor was clearly not reasonable,” ani Castelo. “I remember there was a proposal to arm MMDA enforcers and it was completely rejected by many. Now it is very clear why we can’t arm them.”     Samantala, hiniling naman ni House Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu ang pagpasa ng Proof of Parking Space bill upang hindi na madagdagan pa ang mga sasakyan na walang sariling paradahan sa Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao at iba pang highly urbanized cities.     Sa ilalim ng panukala ay magiging requirement na ang pagkakaroon ng parking space bago makabili ng sasakyan ang isang tao. Ang mga lalabag ay magmumulta ng P50,000 at tatlong taon niyang hindi mairerehistro ang kanyang biniling sasakyan.       “Motor vehicle owners should be made responsible to provide a permanent parking space for their private vehicles, whether this is made an integral part of their house or building structure or leased facility,” ani Abu.
